Price of MFS

Featured Replies

Just found this price for Xbox One version in my country, New Zealand.

https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/microsoft-flight-simulator-xbox-one/30472365?gclid=CjwKCAjwxLH3BRApEiwAqX9areIaaj5lQ4DuhpNcsK5kctEic5jtCUVbBGLRxZSwffCDZshrkEQe2xoCEd0QAvD_BwE

NZD 94 is about USD 60 at the moment.

You can pre-order it now.

May all your landings be safe ones!

Obviously a gap filler, as there has been no pricing or release date discussed as yet.

To the Stars, & Beyond...

This pricing is getting very, VERY, interesting!

No real facts yet, lots of speculation... some of it quite persuasive even...

Here's an example from Slashgear:

https://www.slashgear.com/xbox-series-x-price-leak-could-blow-ps5-out-of-the-water-17625277/

One thing is certain... this looks like it will develop into an all-out price-war to  hopefully deliver the knock-out blow to establish future dominance in a market worth billions.

As dear as FS2020 is to us aviation enthusiasts, in the bigger scheme of this gigantic market potential, its only a tiny blip in the overall gaming market considerations. Very useful as a technology demonstrator.

More and more, I'm thinking that the pricing of the consoles must likely be relatively inexpensive - even an explicitly overt loss-leader, because the profits lie in the game subscriptions - not the hardware.

It's the Gillette marketing strategy all over again.  And MS has a score of note to settle with Sony. Not to mention, cut Google's ambitions off.

The longer consumers can sit this out, the better the deals will be. (I hope!).

I'm not committing to any upgrades until Jan / Feb next year.

I think that $60 for a new flight sim, especially one that has great graphics, would be a reasonable retail price.  X-Plane 11 is currently $60 USD, I doubt MS would want to price themselves so high that people would buy X-Plane instead of MSFS.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I'd hazard a guess at $79.95. Considering the content and work going into the sim it is reasonable and towards the low end in price.

This isn't speculation. Did you click on OP's link? He's provided us with some actual data.

Seller indicates that the pre-order price is $94 NZD, AND they will lower this price if the retail drops before release for some reason.

So if you're in Aus or NZ you can lock your order in at this price today. It means you won't pay more than 94 NZD, which is a pretty standard amount for an current XBox title.

After threads and threads of Avsim speculation on subscription costs/subscription-only models etc, we now how some (further) solid evidence that - as anyone who uses consoles a lot would have guessed - it is priced around the average mark for a console game, and you can buy the game outright.

Interesting that it already has 4 out of 5 stars of customer reviews already, without being released.

Must be true!

You obviously are aware that anyone & any marketing company can advertise anything that has not been released yet, at a price that will be reduced, if the actual price is lower on release at some unspecified future date??

Anyone can advertise Microsoft Flight Simulator console version, at ANY (thumbsucked) price & say that the price will be reduced, if neccessary, on release!

Further solid evidence of what, exactly??  Love the 4 out of 5 star customer preview, & the statement that the product has not been previewed yet.

It is not a marketing company. Pay attention! It is a major NZ online store.

Well reviewed retailer, not some random internet link: https://au.trustpilot.com/review/www.mightyape.co.nz

re: "Love the 4 out of 5 star customer preview, & the statement that the product has not been previewed yet."

5 people have given it preview scores - as we know it is in alpha, that doesn't mean much. But I imagine you could sign up and give a preview score on that site now if you wanted. The statement that the product has not been previewed yet means that no one has written a review of it yet (which makes sense!)

It's just a little piece of data, but it fits with the other information we have and helps to refute the baseless conspiracy theory that this will be a subscription-only title.

As far as I know, only the PC version is in Alpha, not the console version.

I do apologize.. I did say anyone & any marketing company can advertise anything that has not been released yet, at a price that will be reduced, if the actual price is lower on release at some unspecified future date??

That better?

It still does not confirm or deny any baseless conspiracy theory at all, as it is not an official statement/advert/price or anything from Microsoft or Asobo.

It is just an online store advertising a product that will be released at an unspecified future date, at a price that will be reduced if the actual price is less than advertised. No more, no less.

Nice to notice that they are calling it by it's correct name. I hope that nobody is confused by that.
