June 20, 20205 yr I wonder if anyone has been through fatal CTD in this airport as I have these days? As it is I'm still running P3Dv.4.5 because I'm not yet fully confident about version 5 actually being fully ready... During taxing the scenery starts with freezing and stutter - finally the whole session will crash to desktop! I have tried to reinstall the scenery without any success and been writing to Imaginesim twice without getting any answer whatsoever! The error could of course arise from many reasons, not necessarily caused by the actual scenery creation from Imaginesim, but in my view absolutely unacceptable with this developer just ignoring their customers - in my case having bought most of their products. That is why I gave up on them as their customer support was .....'say no more'.....as I tried to find out if there was an update/upgrade path for their FSX version of that same airport. I gave up and chalked them down as a developer to avoid at all cost😡 Rick Almeida
June 20, 20205 yr Author OK thanks Rick, glad at least, that I'm not absolutely alone here.... June 20, 20205 yr Commercial Member I'm not sure why you've had a problem with support from Imaginesim. I haven't spoken to Cal or any of his team in sometime, perhaps they have had trouble with medical issues or something. They are a small staffed, but (now) very good scenery developer and I've enjoyed working with them in the past. In fact, while I wait to see the upcoming KATL from other developer, Imaginesim's re-work of KATL is impressive for such a large airport. Not FlyTampa level, but better work than some other well known scenery developers. Given that I work a lot with payware scenery, I can think of several things that could cause this which aren't issues with the scenery. But since I don't have this scenery, the best thing is to allow the developer to address. I have Cal's email address and I'd be happy to contact him and ask him to get back to you. I can't promise anything except I'm willing to try. I like and respect Cal very much, and my experiences with him and his team have always been positive though I haven't spoken to them in the past 2 years or so - man, I hate losing touch with good people! Also, they are a small shop, but first rate and they have never failed to get back to me. If you want me to intercede, please PM me your email address that you contacted Imaginesim from. Would you mind some advice from someone who's been a part of this community for 40+ years and who has worked with many leading developers? Becoming frustrated is understandable and acceptable, and you did the right thing by posting here if a developer failed to get back to you after two emails (hopefully after at least 72 hours had elapsed during the work week, as weekends don't count and 48 to 72 hours is an acceptable norm for responses in the flight sim developers (for good reasons). Additionally, please be sure that you checked your SPAM folder(s) for their response, I've seen that happen a lot. I recommend being very slow to condemn a developer in our world until you are very sure they deserve it. Best wishes. June 20, 20205 yr VIDP v1.1 works in P3Dv4.5 here. I'd double-check that you don't have a duplicate ADE/AFCAD file, and maybe try it without traffic to see if you have an AI issue (e.g. bad traffic bgl or corrupt texture on a plane that's unique to that area). This was about 2008 I think. Got a response stating "We'll get back to you". Waited, waited..... in 2015 I sent a follow-up query, pointing out that I'd been waiting for 7 years. Got a response "We'll get back to you". Another 5 years on, am still waiting. So will now avoid in future too. Has anyone had to wait longer than 12 years for some support? May all your landings be safe ones! Hugh Costello - NZWN
