New NVIDIA 451.48 - GPU Hardware Scheduler is out

Featured Replies

Based on my experience, for my specs look below, Nvidia GPU Hardware Scheduler decreased my P3D performance, including other Windows Programs such as Kindle and Aerosoft’s Updater. At first, it was difficult to tell the impact HW Scheduler was having, so I left it on, and forgot about it, for a couple of weeks. It was only after noticing decreased performance issues in the aforementioned Windows Programs, that I disabled it and noticed better P3D performance.

Can you say by how much?

I'd like to hear from some who knows a bit more about it what exactly this setting does in relation to P3D?

It wasn't on by default. After upgrading to the latest Windows Version 2004 release, I had enabled "Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling" via the Windows Settings>Graphics Settings tab.

I noticed immediately after turning the GPU Scheduling off that planes and airports loaded up quicker on the main P3D home screen. A ballpark figure would be about a 5 percent loss of FPS. However, it wasn't easy to tell for sure. I'm no expert in how "Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling" impacts P3D performance. However, I did find this video explanation to be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlrWDb1pKXg. Intuitively, I believe the feature is relatively new and perhaps has the potential to work with further development.
