July 2, 20205 yr Commercial Member ...reason to use 6 LPs is that this gives more bandwidth to scenery since v5 uses more threads. Put addons on 160=10,10,00,00 so as not to affect the lower cores. Always use at least two LPs for addon exes. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

I am very new to v5 Your AM 245 turns OFF HT00 & HT01, am not questioning your setting but interested why this is best for v5? Also I am still kicking all addons OFF Core 0 is that still good practice? I’m also on a 4 core 8 thread 7700 with HT on and I found AM 85 doesn’t work well in V5 having used it throughout my V4 usage. Im current running on 253 as it seems to have a slight edge for me over 245 but that’s just for my system and as I say, it is slight, both work pretty well
July 2, 20205 yr Commercial Member Yes 253 = 11,11,11,01 which gives an extra LP=LP3. Can cause more heat if overclock is high. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Keeping exe apps that run along with the simulator away from the first simulator core allows that first core to keep up the work on the main task of rendering. Ideal Flight 10 for FSX was the first application to not only position itself on cores away from the first simulator core but also to start exe apps away from the first simulator core. July 2, 20205 yr Can my custom AI database be forced to run on a different core? I will be testing with my AI disabled during the next few flights, but I suspect that the large number of AI planes flying around on my PC is a major contributor to stuttering. Since heat is not a problem I will try AM 253 and all addons, AS, CP, ProATC, etc on a AM 160=10,10,00,00 David Murden. I still use windows task manager for set affinity, as long as your programe is shown in "details" Tab scroll down till you find it, click on it to highlight it, right click, set affinity, untick all the cores you don't want the app to use. That will help but injecting AI traffic means the sim has work to do collecting the data and introducing the model. Use a .BAT first shouldn't take you very long Chris: http://www.codelegend.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=632 After starting with the .BAT (which you can drag a shortcut from) you can run Task Manager and in the Details tab, select the exe app and choose Set Affinity from the menu to see which Logical Processors are active in the checkboxes. You can also use that to move exe apps off of LP0 but once an exe is started without setting affinity, corralling that exe onto lesser cores may not result in the desired effect. Anyway, a bit of fun to try these things out for yourself. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

See my point about starting an exe without affinity then reducing LPs can result in a different effect. Even so that exe is set away from the first cores as you correctly state. July 2, 20205 yr Commercial Member As for missing autogen at the destination - that can result from not using LP0 or core 0 in an affinity mask. So it may be worth it to try an experiment with your systems: Set up an affinity mask that avoids core zero or LP zero and fly a fast aircraft to a location several miles away and see if the autogen is not happening. Then try with the AM using LP0. With P3D and FSX it works best in HT enabled and we make sure only one LP of the rightmost core is active: example 11,11,11,01=253 Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
