I wish this game was available for non VR users

The issue is, the whole thing was designed from the ground up with VR in mind. The game mechanics are all done with that idea and from that perspective, and from all accounts wouldn't work that well in a 2d environment. I do know that somebody attempted to convert the game to 2D, and it is Playable to a certain extent, but I don't think playable enough that it would be very enjoyable.

I completely understand that it was designed with VR in mind, and Valve have always been good at innovation. However, it seems a shame that so many Half Life fans will not be able to play this, when they have waited so long for a new game set in the Half Life universe. I have not played a first person game in some time (because I am extremely fussy these days), but I would have loved to have played this. However, I have no intention of buying a VR unit for the privilege.

I think that was their hope...a new well made half life game that was vr only would help stir up more index sales and then more steam vr sales in general. Not only that but it allows them to get some really good experience crafting a vr centric full title And not just the little snippets in some of the demos they released.

When you load it up in Steam, the steam vr loads automatically.  So, I guess, yes. 🙂

As for the game, it looks amazing and functions perfect in VR.  My 2 favourites by far are now, Lone Echo and ALYX!!!
