July 22, 20205 yr I've read several threads about this lately. I've seen it a coupe of times in the past, but then I had a long period of not seeing them at all. The other day, I decided to tweak the shadow settings. I'm pretty sure I didn't change anything else, but I may have fat fingered something. I tried to start a flight out of KMIA and ended up with the DXGI hung error. I thought it was a fluke, so I tried it again. Same thing within about 4 minutes of starting the flight while still C&D at the gate. I threw in the towel. I tried the same flight tonight, and got the same thing. I checked Windows Update, and found that I had just received 2 updates in prep for 2004. I uninstalled both. Tried to fly again, and got the same crash again. The little light bulb went off and I remembered changing the Prepar3D.cfg file. I remaned it and let P3Dv5 build a new one. I'm at cruising altitude now. So.... A corrupted Prepar3D.cfg (or a bad entry within) CAN cause this error. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
July 22, 20205 yr Most useful. Thanks. Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
July 22, 20205 yr in my case deleting shaders also fixed this error, Rado Rado i7 4770K@4,1Ghz HT on since release of MSFS1080 Ti 11GB 32GB DDR3 RAMSamsung SSDs
July 22, 20205 yr Author I was able to complete the flight, so the DXGI hangs were absolutely caused by something in the Prepar3D.cfg file. I saved the old copy, so I might play around with it later on to see if I can determine which exact line is causing the problem. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
July 22, 20205 yr Use unlimited fps in p3d with nvidia limiter set to 30fps cause this error with gtx1080Ti limited to 60 in p3d and 30 with nvidia is good Frédéric Giraud
July 22, 20205 yr i set unlimited in P3D with refresh rate in NCP to 30hz. All good. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

At least that works for me and for @micstatic Just blanket saying "don't use Unlimited" makes it look like that is the problem. It's not. The seeming or possible issue of runaway frames inducing a CTD on a 1080ti would be if you truly ran unlimited. We're not doing that. We are limiting with vsync. The only issue I still currently have is with A2A's windshield.dll. It seems to hard lock the machine when it's raining. I'm presently working with them to see what is going on. July 23, 20205 yr agree @Mace. Are you running vsync on in NCP and the sim? I'm trying to figure out if since I don't use max frame rate in NCP rather just refresh rate to 30hz if I even need vsync on or not. I don't touch the vsync stuff in the NCP. I figure something that important (to smoothness) needs to be done in the sim, although I have not experimented with vsync off in the sim and on in NCP. I haven't even looked that closely at the vsync options in the NCP. I assume it's set to "application controlled" or whatever it is set to by default when you install a new nvidia driver with the clean install option. Since V4 I've basically gone to a stock NCP profile also. Yes the default vsync for NCP is application controlled. I've honestly even tried running with vsync off in NCP and the sim and didn't notice much difference. All still feels smooth. But like the rest of us, I'm always trying to learn from others. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Yes I use TB via the in-sim checkbox I'm using pretty much stock NCP settings, except I do use "Prefer Max Performance" on the power setting. I used to use "Clamp" for Negative LOD Bias, but I still haven't determined if that is useful with v5. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
