July 30, 20205 yr Now that were much closer to release....I have to ask again (I did many months ago), "Is Force Feedback modeled into MSFS 2020?" I ONLY fly with my wonderful Microsoft FF2 joystick, and I've purchased many of them over the years. Since it was discontinued by Microsoft, there is a "cult" of users for this stick. Ebay is the only place to buy them now, and they command high prices. If you've ever used one with Russell Dirks' famous FS Force software, then you know that it is one of the best experiences in flight sims. You can feel every tar strip on the runway as you increase speed for a take off. You feel the thump of the landing gear as they extend and retract. You feel the thump of the plane landing, and depending on the quality of your landing, the thump is proportionate. Many simmers put down FF when they tried it at first, but they never bought Dirks' software. Force Feedback as included in the sim is awful. It ONLY comes to life with Dirks' FS Force software. If you used the stick with the software, you wouldn't fly with anything else. Recently, I emailed Russel Dirks, and he IS working on software for MSFS 2020, but regrets it won't be quite ready for the upcoming launch of the sim. What I'd like to hear from the Alpha/Beta participants is simply this: Does the new sim allow for Force Feedback joysticks? Please say YES! Stan
July 30, 20205 yr I REALLY really hope so. I use the Logitech G940 (along with Dirk's software) which makes such a huge difference in immersion. If Dirks is working on it, that should be a pretty big clue 😉 What is promising is that MS / Asobo are working directly with the hardware manufacturers which brings a fair amount of hope for a new crop of devices...
August 4, 20205 yr I also have the FF2 sitting ready on the desk. One thing many forget about FSForce is that it will actually allow for realistic trim, which, naturally, has never been possible with any non-FF device.
August 22, 20205 yr Can anyone using a MS FF2 tell us if force feedback works even barely in FS2020? I'm waiting for FSFORCE to be compatible, but I just bought a second hand MSFF2 hoping that I will be finally able to play with such a feature that I dreamed about a lot when I was a little boy fascinated about fsim
August 22, 20205 yr I have the same controller, it doesn’t even seem to be able to control the aircraft at all. Have you been able to fly using this stick without the force feedback? Or do I have to wait to even use it to fly at all?
September 16, 20205 yr I have MSFS2020 and SWFFB2, and I confirm FS2020 work fine with SWFFB2 but NOT THE FFB. However, on Windows 10 pro x64, using XPForce software, the force feedback work fine when using ForceTest software, no driver was installed, just generic plug'n'play Windows 10 driver.
September 30, 20205 yr I just bought the FS2020 version of XPForce and use that. https://www.fsmissioneditor.com/product/xpforce/ It is not perfect, the FS2020 version doesn't really give turbulence effects properly (or at all?) yet for example BUT for me it is worth it just for the ability to adjust stick force and the FFB effects that do work such as the stick flopping forward due to elevator weight when parked in a Cessna and the ground roll vibration and nose wheel shimmy. Eventually once FFB is built into the sim the XPForce software may be redundant (and I have pre-ordered a Fulcrum https://www.fulcrumsim.com/ non FFB Yoke anyway) but it was only a few bucks and worth it to me for the convenience of having FFB functional on my MS FFB2 right now rather than in some distant future patch. I think it has a free trial if you want to "try before you buy" .
September 30, 20205 yr As Glenn noted above, it is built into the sim so there's hope. And at the moment XPForce seems to only have some forces modeled (ground effects, tension); really hoping it continues to get added to in...
September 30, 20205 yr I have a Logitech G940 and hope they add it soon. Intel i-9 13900KF @ 6.0 Ghz, MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X 24GB, MSI MAG CORELIQUID C360, MSI Z790 A-PRO WIFI, MSI MPG A1000G 1000W, G.SKILL 48Gb@76000 MHz DDR5, MSI SPATIUM M480 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2TB, Windows 11 Pro Ghost Spectre x64 “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the day and night to visit violence on those who would do us harm”.
September 30, 20205 yr I have XPForce which does work well for the basic forces. It's odd that turbulence isn't modelled more strongly. It's clear from the XPForce control panel that MSFS is passing it some turbulence forces based on the reactions shown in the final settings tab, they just don't correlate to any significant effect on the stick. I think the author could fix this by simply amplifying the input from MSFS, although I could be talking rubbish!
November 26, 20205 yr New world update, but still no force feedback for us, owner of MS SWFFB2 !!!!! Shame to MS ... shame ... shame ... shame ... shame ...
