Has MSFS/ASOBO the final Version already ready?

Featured Replies

Interesting is:
Aerosoft Germany is selling DVD Boxes with MSFS right uppon August the 18.th. This means, that they must have the final versioon already because they need time to let the Tons of DVD produce!

This also confirms my thoughts that ASOBO is far ahead related to the "Beta" some are testing!

What do you think about this?

Nobody knows, but according to aerosoft, the DVD’s were actually manufactured well before today.  That doesn’t mean it’s the final version, there will usually be a 0 day patch with any changes.

Not that much of a deal. They won’t have the final version, even if the DVDs are pressed. Upon launch everyone will just download the most current (the final) version as an update, that’s it.

It's sure, that ASOBO has much more complete build, than they gave to testers. But it doesn't mean, that on DVDs must be the same build already, because there will be on-line updating system, which will keep every instalation up to date (similar to Windows 10).

There is no final version, MSFS will be a constant work in progress.

Yes, the DVDs have already been printed some time ago. First thing that will happen after install (by the way, DVD 1 needs to be inserted to start the sim) is it starts to update via the internet, just like Windows 10.

Define "Final". More to the point this is what is said on the Aerosoft forum:

The DVDs contain only the installer and the content (aircraft, world etc). The actual simulator software is downloaded during installation. That way you always have the latest version. For this the installer will guide you through the creation of an Xbox account (if you do not have one) etc.

Keep in mind that the sim consists of four parts:

  1. The simulator itself, obviously mandatory.
  2. The default content (basic world, aircraft etc). This default world is on it's own far better then FSX could ever deliver. This is a mandatory part, always part of the simulator..
  3. The downloaded content (more details for the world, better ground imagery, far more correctly placed trees etc etc). This comes in 'blocks' that can be buffered on your system so if you always fly from Detroit it will not have to be loaded every time). Contrary to what some less informed sources say there is absolutely NOTHING indicating this is paid content or will be paid content. We do not sell a time limited simulator.  This is an optional part, you do not have to stream any scenery, weather or traffic.
  4. Third party content that can buy from the build in store or from external shops. Obviously optional, it is a super sim without add-ons.

As you can see the DVDs principally contain scenery which may or may not be partially updated on initial installation of MFS. Whilst it's no surprise that MS/Asobo have access to a more advanced version of MFS I'm not sure it justifies your assumption that Asobo is "far ahead".

Give people power to really test their personality.
