very impressed with AI autogenerated cities

Featured Replies

A recent video on YouTube showing Frankfurt (a non-photogrammetry city) and its airport had me mightily impressed. Although the author of the video is let down by the lack of authentic skyscrapers that are indeed characteristic of the Frankfurt skyline, this can be easily corrected later on. What is may more impressive is the European-style residential areas with blocks of connected buildings that make it look quite authentic, especially as it matches the satellite imagery underneath. Equally impressed by Cologne, although some of the major bridges are underwater. I was afraid that European cities would look quite generic, with standard autogen, but this is clearly not the case.

Also the non-detailed airport looks good in my opinion, way better than what we had before. Clearly, the best of the new sim sets the standard extremely high so that anything less might look disappointing, but at least some of the autogenerated german cities look very good indeed.

I wonder how Paris looks!

Yes, as long as the shapes of the buildings can be recognized by the AI and the buildings aren't too distinctive, the autogen looks pretty much perfect from a certain altitude.

Paris looks quite good. Unfortunately, London didn't get the same amount of love. There are videos floating around on both, but keep in mind, none of them was captured in the release version yet.

Kind regards, Michael

It's in the eye of the beholder. I prefer flying (very) low, and I often find city buildings either dull (AI, FSX-style) or psychedelic (photogrammetry). Add to that very high trees in the middle of roads or blocky photogrammetry trees, and my experience is outright ugly.

Higher up or low on the countyside it's much better.

Is there a way to disable photogrametery and instead just have the AI autogen?
