On my installation, after clicking the MSFS icon, the machine sits idle on the desktop for about 30 seconds, then after a 15 second black screen, the intro videos begin playing.  Is this what everybody else is experiencing?  I'm not complaining... just want to make sure my install isn't borked (seems odd that it wouldn't at least produce a banner to show that I successfully launched the simulator).

That's the MS Store/Windows App infrastructure. It's slow.

I didn't time it, but yes, it is a looong load time...

MadDog, are you on the Steam version?

I noticed the same thing, and thought I was going a little nuts..... but unlike @Slides 's apparent thought, my experience was on the Steam version. I didn't experience this during... ahem, previous experiences I'm not allowed to disclose per certain agreements... so I've been curious if this is a Steam artifact or something inherent to the sim release regardless of distribution platform.

Curious....

But it's still a Windows app even with the Steam version right?

Hi Greg,

No, I'm using the Microsoft Store version - so it's not exclusive to Steam.  Guess it's the new "normal" for the final release.  Glad I'm not alone.

I have a recommendation for this:

1. Take the image of the 172 flying through the mountains and move that to display when you click the link so users at least know it's doing something.

2. Take the four logos and move them to display where the 172 was being shown as the sim truly loads.

First, you'll save us from thinking the sim didn't load and second, we'll cut the initial load time in half since the logos take a good 15-20 seconds to run.

i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.

Compared to Prepar3D where we had up to 7 or 8 minutes loading time to reach the Welcome Screen, MSFS appears like a "Blitz Starter" to me.

Clicking to start te game and nothing happens within 30 seconds is bad programming.
