Nope. not even on my system anywhere.

I'm used to this - first time I tried P3D, I sent it back. Tried it again later on and took the time to set it up properly and never looked back.

I see MSFS with lots of promise. For me, moving the cameras around the cockpit is a pita and  mouse look is an abomination BUT I'm willing to spend the time to learn the ins and outs. Now if we could only have the ability to program keystrokes to a controller button it would be a big plus. I really hate using the keyboard when in the sim.

Vic

After I got the sim running smooth I took some time to setup my CH yoke (old I know) and my Saitek rudder pedals. I'm slowy but surely learning the new layout and camera and starting to have alot of fun with this sim.

It takes a bit of (one time) effort, but you can map pretty much anything to controller buttons..

I use the POV hat on my yoke for looking around, and have flaps, gear, trim, etc mapped so it feels pretty comfortable..

Same here, I haven't ran into any problems mapping what I want to my old CH yoke so far.

I've been able to do that, Bert with the exception of keystrokes. I'd like to program F9/F12 to a rocker to work with TrackIR but haven't figured out how yet.

That, I would not know.. FSUIPC?

Yes, works perfectly for P3D. I set up profiles for each controller, associated them with different a/c and whichever a/c I select FSUIPC would auto select the right controller.  Pete and John are working on a FSUIPC for MSFS but I have been unable to get it to function properly as yet, which is to be expected as there is little documentation on mappings

Early days.. 🙂

It took me 29 hours to download the sim, and I've now got about 15 hours of flight..

Loving it!

Just tested, if the 'CPU 100% spikes' have something to do with loading the rolling cache. Flew a 50nm traject twice. But the CPU still spiked the second flight.

Further more, when I'm in the menu's, my GPU goes up to 90-100%. When I'm flying it drops again, to 35-45%. What I wonder makes the GPU goes up that way when I'm just in de menu's.

MSFS has very good looks, but has also some strange behaviors.

Interesting. I tested it back and forth with P3d and it was nothing but trouble. With a max temp of 52C under a constant 100% load, I expect I have a little wiggle room for the temp increase that HT brings. All I can do is give it a shot. If it doesn't work for me, just another trip to the BIOS.

Based on your testing, you've found that hyperthreading causes performance issues in P3D, and the only way to disable it is through the BIOS? I should definitely look into this, wasn't aware...

8 cores if you have HT on.

Hardware or Virtual threads are always better than software ones.

Simple. HT on in BIOS gives me trouble in P3D. HT off in BIOS does not. Simple solution is to go into BIOS and turn it off when I fly P3D. No point in hunting for some esoteric cause when there is a simple fix.

Thanks, Vic. I will give it a try and see how it impacts my system. Strange, how I wasn't familiar with this notion/issue before. However, it is a minor inconvenience to continually change my BIOS setting, since I fly in more than one sim.

If you don't mind, can you elaborate a little about how hyperthreading negatively impacts P3D? I'm still at the office, but when I get home and try P3D without HT, I'll see if it helps.
