Day 2 - blown away

Featured Replies

I'm loving this sim. There are some bugs which I'm sure will be addressed, but the underlying sim and framework are incredible. My feeling is that this may be the sim that will bring FSX, P3D, and X-Plane fans together, all of which I have owned. I look forward to the third party add-ons that will follow. Exciting times ahead for the flight sim world.

Funny I'm currently enroute from KSFB to KTPA in the trusty 172!  Early impressions of Florida scenery is its on par with ORBX True Earth region for XP11 imo.

I'm blown away about how badly non-optimized the game is. At times it really performs like Microsoft Powerpoint and that's WITH cached scenery. It's actually insane this was given the green light for release.

Hoping the next month is spent optimizing this game otherwise... ohhh boy.

This is the wrong thread for that.

But also, something is wrong with your PC if that’s the case. I have a mid-rage system (1070, i7-6700) powering a 3440x1440p monitor, and my frames are stable and great.

Take this to one of the other hundreds of performance related threads. This is our safe haven as the only place of positivity on these boards...

It's extremely well optimized, considering what's going on under the hood and I can run it on ultra settings on a GTX 1070 at 1080p, 150 scale rendering, locked 30FPS over NYC.

I hate the way this development team is getting slated, considering the time scale they had to achieve this in, and implementing several third-party systems into their own game engine, doing something revolutionary, to a deadline set in stone by the publisher. I understand the personal stress that each person involved in the development process suffers, trying to fix issues, while others are appearing because someone else's code has been changed for a different reason but it causes a domino effect, etc., etc.

These guys have done an amazing job, and trust me they will be working right now, as you try to rubbish their achievement, to try to improve every aspect of it as best they can.

My brother is a games developer, working on PC and every console platform, so I know what he goes through. It's tough on a regular day, and on top of that dealing with publishers' requests can be ludicrous and their constraints frustrating.

Yes, it’s very important to let us know what res when stating specs and performance. I now run x-plane at 4K and will want the same with FS to be satisfied. So please let us know. Thanks!

ok I see now 1080, thanks!

After a long but flawless install, I finally had a chance to give the sim a go. Jumped into the TBM and flew out of NFNL (Labasa, Fiji) to NFFN (Nadi, Fiji). Reason for doing this is that  I grew up in Fiji and have done this flight a lot of times. Also, in FSX, P3D, the default scenery for Fiji is pathetic so I wanted to see how this would fare. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Yes there is some work to be done on the airports to make it more realistic but the experience is in a different league in MSFS. Finally, flying in the pacific is now palatable.

Next I took off from YSSY (Sydney, where I live now) and again I was majorly impressed. I spend hundreds of dollars in P3D on addons and even then could get Sydney to look this awesome.

I have a 3700x, 2070 Super and 32GB of RAM and my flights were smooth on high-end (1080p) with a few settings pushed to ultra.

I cant wait to see how the sim develops going forward.

I finally got my stutter issue sorted and just did a flight around my hometown, looks great and I'm having fun now! This will be tons of fun once get my controls setup and keyboard layout to make it more like the classic FS.

I don't think this is the sim for you.
