August 20, 20205 yr Just want to check with the rest of ya - look at the 2 screenshots from my last flight below (open them in full size). The cloud edges are a bit fuzzy, almost like they're being viewed through frosted glass. Is this normal? It happens on all quality settings (medium, high, and ultra) and all the different AA settings. This happens during the daytime as well, and can also be seen on some mountain edges at times. PS: What a view, though! August 20, 20205 yr I think this is normal but to me they look better in the sim (in action) then what we were seeing in screenshots an stuff. I haven't messed with them enough to see compare the differences in settings. I am mostly keeping them on High to save my GPU a bit. August 20, 20205 yr I have it too and I am running it maxed out. I think its intentional to stop clouds killing performance. I remember x-enviro having similar compromises in x-plane.
August 20, 20205 yr Yes, it's what I've seen also. They're not perfect, but they sure are great. A little more definition would be nice, but I'm not being picky. These are the best clouds for IFR flying. I was happy with the immersion factor of TrueSky in P3Dv5, but they had a lot of flaws with weather depiction. This solves that, other than the glitches with live weather... 5800X3D | Radeon RX 6900XT
August 20, 20205 yr It is normal, this sort of artifact has been present since the E3 2019 footage. I believe a higher resolution helps to reduce the noise, with my system I have to scale the resolution below 1080p and it is more apparent, meanwhile in the official 4K footage you have to look really close to notice it.
August 20, 20205 yr Author Gotcha, thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure it's not some messed-up setting on my side. I don't mind them, really. The sky looks bloody fantastic. August 20, 20205 yr I get this too (I'm running on medium) but the sim still looks great anyway. For VFR it's amazing 👍 Matthew S
August 20, 20205 yr Purposely done to improve performance? I noticed you don't have a real sense of speed, when entering clouds,it's like slow motion, and my clouds are on ultra. August 20, 20205 yr it's certainly because of the performance, but I think it's a good compromise between appearance and performance, many people know that if you increase the level of cloud detail on X-Plane 11 and XEnviro - the frames will go down as well!
