Nice lighting. A320 on the ramp

Featured Replies

Pretty impressed with the lighting on the ramp, although the person who plugged that GPU in is a total noob. That'd fall out with the cable hanging like that. 🤣

Here's some of the real thing for comparison:

I have to wonder why that dweeb with the batons is standing in front of the jet. The 'bus clearly isn't going anywhere for some time.... (correct me if I'm wrong, Al !)

Yes, great lighting

Very impressive night lighting! Great comparison.

He is showing off to the people on the flight deck, because he has two marshaling batons which both work perfectly, are fully charged, and have no sellotape holding them together after some word not allowed dropped them on the concrete ramp and broke them, unlike everyone else on the airport, whose batons are exactly like that.

Shortly after this, he will begin dancing around, putting a traffic cone on his head to relieve the boredom a bit, launching a cone at a stack of other ones in a backflip throw, to see if he can land it on the stack and doing other silly stuff. Then he will brag about the fact that his high vis jacket is not ripped because he managed to get a new one from stores, until someone spoils it for him by pointing out that if you have a new high vis, everyone thinks you are a total noob, whereas having a dirty high vis makes you look experienced. Then they'll make him cry by pointing out that the reflective bits on his high vis aren't reflecting light and letting the sim's spectacular lighting effects down.

Yup, since you can't hear ATC in the new sim, they give you your IFR clearance with semaphore. That's how all the big airports do it, as we know. 🤣

I was trying to find a video in which a ramp agent was setting out the cones around the aircraft which had just stopped at the gate. He threw a cone near the front of the engine, which because the engine was either running or had only just been turned off and was still spooling down, promptly got sucked into the engine...

It was on some kind of Russian compilation video featuring all kinds of stuff - fearful flyers, perhaps a crash or two, I cannot recall it thanks to random surfing of youtube.

I had a work colleague at Aviator, who once put a cone on his head as an airliner was arriving on stand. He got a reprimand because the pilot actually complained about it, saying that it was putting him off using the Safedock. Now granted, it might have made him smile a bit unless he was a total misery, but we all thought he was a twonk for actually trying to get someone in trouble just for having a bit of a laugh, because it surely couldn't put you off that much once the thing is tracking down the ramp's centreline. All you have to do is chop the throttles and let it coast until the sign says stop. It's not that bloody hard.
