I attempted to experiment with this, but when I enabled it in game there were no filters available. How do you get them?

Click on the green "Code" button and download the .zip. Instructions on where to save them are on the page.

My setup on the right. Sky exposure correction is real... Note how the Ambient Light tints the plane blue as the sky... Poor mans Raytracing...

Feel free to join me in my quest to bypass this!

I know for a fact that Film Grain will improve the perceived cloud detail immensely... so it has to happen!

I am on board. How does one join this quest?

Well, we might just be out of luck here. From what I can tell, as MSFS has a multiplayer part, NVIDIA rates it as a "competitive" game, where only the curated shaders are available, and the others are blocked. I haven't found any info if it's possible to bypass that, and probably it's impossible because GeForce Experience will check online on every start. It's a shame because a lot of very powerful filters are locked for us. There's only hoping that more filters will be added to the curated list. Probably one can switch from NV Freestyle to the original Reshade and use all filters. However then you're losing the easy Freestyle interface.

Now with sharpening off, I was able to reduce the CRT effect strength to 0,5. I'm done! Here's a link to a video of my settings. It's german, but you'll figure.

Thanks for sharing your settings. I have noticed that, when adding SMAA, I get a nVidia overlay message when returning to the Main menu that states that SMAA requires depth information that isn’t available in this application. Is this particular filter really working in MSFS?

Yeah I got this once, too, but since then, it's been working flawlessly. I think it just notifies you once. I tested it and the SMAA helps a little bit in certain areas with aliasing, certainly no big difference, but it definitely doesn't hurt.

I spoke to Crosire (Reshade author) on discord, and he will ask MS to allow more custom filters in MSFS. Fingers crossed!

Reshade works just fine but newer versions of it, which are the ones with really fun shaders, will disable reshade if the network activity gets too high. Which happens pretty much all the time in this game.

Here is a build of near current reshade with the network detection disabled; https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qA7pilonLd0DTlqcl7XUtB9iU2yk7nAP/view?usp=sharing

Using the above build you shouldn't have any issues with it shutting off from time to time.

Cool. But Reshade doesn't work with the MS Store version because the .exe is hidden.

If you view them at 100% size, you'll see it's the CRT pattern.

Yeah, unfortunately the Freestyle overlay is not captured by screenshots. From my mind, I am running these filters (order is important):

Vignette (25%)
Ambient Light (15 Strength, color adaptive)
CRT (Customized)
Colors (+15 Temp., +15 Saturation)
Brightness / Contrast (Highlights -80% to correct overexposed clouds)
Prism (Chromatic Aberration variant, 1.5 scale, 12px strength)
SMAA

Sadly i do have the filters...but the options inside of it are not even the same ones that saying right here.. uhmm
