Bonanza Performance.

Featured Replies

I’ve noticed the performance is bad too. I’ve also noticed on all the props that when you pull back the RPM, your speed drops a bunch. I fly a 182 in real life and to get best forward speed in cruise, you bring the RPMs back a bit while keeping MP up.

Here  if you don't already have the Beechcraft Bonanza G36 Specification and Description.

Thanks, I have that one. Cannot guarantee absolute specs but reasonably close. (Most manufacturer specs under-estimate performance slightly to avoid customer complaints!).

Serious thank you Robert for your time and effort into this , sight unseen.

I D/L’d the G36 fix on the MFS website referred to above.  I’m getting 150 IAS at 2600 RPM and 23 MP at 6500 ft.  Never been in a real Bonanza but I like the new performance.

Out of interest, what is your load and have you experimented with full load vs half load vs light load and checked against performance.

Can any real Bonanza pilots vouch?

I'm near completion of an engine and flight model makeover for the Bonanza as a first experiment with the new sim. I'm currently double checking everything which will take some time. I'll then zip it up and publish sometime next week.

Any update on when this mod will be released?

Yes. I'm doing final testing right now and hope to upload within a day or two. The mod is a Turbo-normalised engine version which a number of engine specialists make for the G36 and previous models. The Turbo radically improves the Bonanza - initial climb is 1400 fpm and she will cruise at 22,000 feet at 212 knots (244 mph). The only thing I'm struggling to fix is the mixture control which is too rich at sea level and requires too much leaning (a Turbo aspirated engine should not need much leaning until a much higher altitude than a normally aspirated version).

Lots of other improvements in ground handling, air handling, stalls, proper spins, a proper side slip (up to 30 degrees) and two new liveries. I'm sending it out to a couple of testers for feedback in the next 24 hours.
