Usually they do little more than tell us--in marketing jargon-- when we can expect further updates. In none of them was an honest description of the current state of this sim even hinted at--nor that it would be six to twelve months after release before we could expect a fully working simulation. That might have been useful information. I know that there are many who think it naive and even nonsensical to expect value for money. They seem to be quite content and even grateful for what ever is available regardless of quality. But some of us believe that there is something fundamentally dishonest about the way this product has been promoted and continues to be promoted on a weekly basis. How about this for a suggestion: No more updates --just fix the sim. And then--and only then--publish an update that lets us know that. Dunno but my 120 hours flight time has flown by in a "broken sim". In 1 month we had 2 patches with promise of news end of this month on patch number 3. Whilst I won't disagree about the bugs, unfortunately it is inevitable with such a complex piece of code and engineering. Thomas Derbyshire

It could also be that they're patching scenery objects like airports at the same time as the core sim code. Maybe some of the default aircraft graphics as well. The core sim with flight model and systems modeling, and the UI and launcher code has to be a fairly small size by comparison. That's where the most critical problems are. I would think they'd prioritize that over scenery upgrades. Maybe their patching process just isn't set up to break out client-side scenery and aircraft objects from the smaller core simulator files. Might be considerations around Microsoft's certification process too, since they'd want patches to land on their official app as well as Steam at the same time. If every change has to go through the cert process, they might figure it's better to push larger packages of changes.

September 25, 20205 yr IMHO, what is pretty obvious is: 1. The default airplane will never be brought up to "study level". A few fixes and improvements here and there. If you want a fully advaced aircraft, you are going to have to wait for addon developers to produce them. And you will be waiting a long time. If you are interesteed in GA, you'll be waiting a long time. If you're interested in bizjets, you'll be buying Carenado or you'll be waiting a very very long time. 2. For the time being, we'll have to rely on community fixes. Unfortunately, the 787 and the Citation Longitude are "locked", so there's that. 3. Fixes and patches will focus on the "greatest common denominator". So some idiosyncratic bug buried deep on page 56 of the FMC is unlikely to get the attention it deserves. 4. There will be no comprehensive written documentation. I can't recall a AAA title, published in the last 10 years has come with a full manual. You'll have to rely on Avsim, Youtube, GameFaq, etc. Gamepressure.com sells a guide. 5. MSFS is positioned within the AAA game market. That will be reflected in the kind and direction of attention it will get from Asobo/Microsoft.
