September 20, 20205 yr Has anyone found a workaround to make the elevator trim wheel faster in fs 2020? In xp11 i think it uses some repeatable click on the button presses to make it tolerable, there doesnt seem to be that in fs 2020. I was thinking maybe some trick using fsuipc could be done? The yoke wheel only registers as button presses not axes. September 23, 20205 yr Author What is really needed is a way to make each wheel turn, which is a ch yoke button press repeatable at a faster rate. Maybe an external program that could achieve the "fast keypress" of the button for moving the wheel up and down. Thanks in advance Yes dont use it - use a button up and button down for trim if you can - that always works well - thats what I do Edited September 23, 20205 yr by Richard Sennett Rich Sennett

That isnt slow i take it, will try this next thanks. Xp11 uses some sort of fast repeat built into the "button press" for the trim wheel i think to get around the issue, where fs2020 doesnt so far. September 23, 20205 yr CH for this thing basically sux unfortunately. Use the grey rocker switch instead. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

On your yoke - Im no fan of keyboard inputs if at all possible Rich Sennett

I think i have one set to aileron trim (right one i think), possibly left was rudder trim, but one could probably go. Do you have all 3 trims assigned in your case? Well also you can maybe change sensitivity settings for it when they fix menu settings Rich Sennett

September 23, 20205 yr The big advantage of a trim wheel in real life, the way you can hold the attitude you want and just slowly wind on trim until you no longer need to keep pressure on the Yoke is not going to happen in a sim unless you have both force feedback and some very fancy software to move the centre point of the yoke as the trim changes. I am not aware of any sim that does that. Regardless - have you tried FSUIPC ?

A trim wheel is great had a saitek When it works its great can be a pia to get working right - as stated the eclipse trim wheel may work but you may have to wait until the sensitivity menu is fixed I doubt a ch product will work out of the box like saitek Rich Sennett

Yes, if FSUIPC for MSFS exists you can just write two three-line Lua programs that execute the trim-up and trim-down functions multiple times, then bind those to the button events. If you don't like Lua, FSUIPC also lets you bind multiple events to a single keystroke, although if I remember correctly you have to edit the fsuipc.cfg file manually to do this. So i decided to take a look at this in fsuipc 7.. I went to button/switch assignments, pushed the wheel up, so it shows button 14, checked off select for fs control checkb ox, selected say "elev trim dn", it has a parameter box which is default of zero. I'm not sure this is the right spot though. In the ini file i do see pollinterval = 25 and button repeat=20,10 in the buttons field. Not sure if i just increase the 20 value there, but it sounds like it would affect all buttons. September 23, 20205 yr Author I may have got it, or at least better. Its not quite the Num7 smooth if you hold that in but it moves pretty quick I had to edit the ini file like this (originally only 1 and 2 exist, so i duplicated and incremented the numbers one by one), now to repeat for elev trim down edit/update: here is the final set that works pretty well. I guess now ill need to launch fs2020 from a batch file to force open fsuipic each time, since i'm lazy like that There is probably a simpler way to do this, but it seems to work.
