September 24, 20205 yr I notice when running MSFS in windowed mode, that I can't multitask with another window that has a video playing, such as Youtube, Plex, etc. Whenever I have MSFS as the active window, the video will become unresponsive, but when I change the active window back to my browser where youtube is at, then the video is back to normal. Same with any other window that has video playing. I never had this problem before in Prepar3D. I was able to have watch YouTube videos even if it wasn't the active window. But with MSFS, you can't do that. September 24, 20205 yr I suspect it is going to have something to do with processor affinity and CPU priority. Possibly even Windows Dynamic Thread prioroity is an issue. A lot of people recommend downloading process lasso and disabling that for FS2020. It is not really my area, hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will chip in shortly with some suggestions.
September 24, 20205 yr As an old man, I'm somewhat amused that not being able to watch videos while running Flight Simulator is a problem we have these days.... 🙂
September 24, 20205 yr Commercial Member Video decoding is made on the GPU nowadays. If your GPU is already fairly busy with MSFS, you cannot expect to have its entire power available for other applications at the same time. And this is a GOOD sign: it means the sim does make use of the GPU. Isn't this what everybody wanted ? Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
September 24, 20205 yr 😄 If this is a complaint, I am absolutely astounded by it! I am guessing you want to watch youtube with maybe aircraft instructional videos whilst using MSFS in a window, and I understand why that might be good to do, but if we want a cutting edge flight simulator that uses all of the bells and knobs and the GPU to the max, it just isn't going to happen. 🙂 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). September 24, 20205 yr Author Exactly, I usually watch tutorial videos while using the sim. I do this all the time with P3D, FSX, X-Plane without any problems, so not sure why it happens in MSFS.
