September 26, 20205 yr As per title. I engaged AP at about 1500' and the aircraft went full aileron deflection and rolled very quickly and violently to the right resulting in a stall and spin and hideous crash. I had a look around and found this pilot had posted this on YouTube; This is exactly what's happening in my aircraft. On the ground in external view putting the AP in will show the ailerons snap left/ right over to their stops. When autopilot is taken out they snap back to center. Has anyone else encountered this? But when it goes into a spin the graphics are much better than in any previous sim 😉. Sorry, couldn't resist. There have been a number of references to issues with the King Air. Another victim of the rushed release, but it doesn't seem to be the most commonly used aircraft, so possibly not a top priority to fix. John B
September 26, 20205 yr I've had it occasionally happen on the King Air, and I've had it happen on the GV and 172 G1000. Most (not all) of the time it appears to happen for me is when there is any sort of turbulence. i hit a bump and the AP tries to kill me. On flights with no turbulence the AP seems to be less fatal. However, it has tried to kill me in calm conditions too. To mimimize the possibility, I set my target ALT, VS and NAV before I take off. Having YD on in the KA also seems to lessen the occurrence. I've actually mapped master autopilot engage toggle to my yoke so that if it does try to kill me, I can take control quickly.
September 26, 20205 yr Author Umm, thanks wthomas for those observations. However, this happens for me the very instant the AP is engaged regardless of conditions though. . .ailerons hard over to stops and WHAM - lots of trouble. The instant AP is disengaged - ailerons center themselves and all is lovely again with just the sweat to mop up from the cockpit floor. Edited September 26, 20205 yr by Will Fly For Cheese
September 26, 20205 yr I may be an outlier, but I’ve found the King Air to actually be one of the more stable, enjoyable IFR platforms in the sim. I’ve completed 4 cross country flights without the autopilot trying to kill me. September 26, 20205 yr I've never had trouble with it...yet. I like the turbo props, but the Grand Caravan was broken (for me at least) with the last update.
September 26, 20205 yr So, I thought I'd take it up, and of course after a little while everything dies. I'm flying over solid clouds that reach all the way to the ground with no way of finding anything. Thanks for the fix, Asobo.

I agree - I too experienced this exact behavior in a flight in the G36 yesterday, and it was my first session post-patch. Never saw this before the patch. I haven't flown enough since the patch to know if it is a persistent issue (I flew another flight with the G36 right after and had no problems). - Kevin Windows 11 / Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI RTX-4080 Super 16G Ventus 3X / Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 / Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro / 64GB Lexar ARES Gen2 RGB DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 RAM / Dell Alienware AW3418DW WQHD 3440x1440 GSync / Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 2TB (OS) & 860 EVO 4TB SDD / WD Caviar Black 4TB HDD / EVGA Supernova 850 G5 PSU / Be Quiet Light Base 600 LX case / Virpil Warbird base with Constellation Alpha grip / MFG Crosswind rudder pedals / Virtual-Fly TQ6+ throttle quadrant / Winwing Orion HOTAS F-18 Throttle / Virpil TCS+ collective base with Hawk-60 grip / Saitek Trim Wheel / Saitek Radio and Switch Panels / Winwing Combat Ready Panel / Tobii 5
September 26, 20205 yr Could this be a binding issue? Maybe the toggle AP bind was also set the same as a control surface bind, post patch?

I think it was indeed tgsweat. A flight from Nice to Venice this afternoon and there were no issues. I have a rubbish wireless keyboard which I think is sending random erroneous commands to the sim now and again. It's going in the bin and a new corded keyboard will be purchased. Marvellous aircraft. Has anyone figured out if its got an ADF Receiver? LFMN Taxiway Uniform for 22L departure Autopilot engaged and all well. Next stop Venice. Smiles all round. September 26, 20205 yr Author I declare the Beechcraft King Air. . .King! Feathered props on the ground and all shut down before going in to Venice for a decent bottle of Pinot Grigio and a look around Piazza San Marco. Magic stuff. Who would believe it possible two years ago. . . Tomorrow. . .Rome, and then across Italy to the East. I guess I've selected my Round The World airframe and we're on our way. Suddenly. To think I took this off the ground at 0600 UTC this morning from LOWI with fog and overcast up to FL140 with the AP being an absolute villain trying to kill me. Had to hand fly the the little bu@@er all the way from Innsbruck to Nice. Oh well, these are the things one has to iron out as one goes. Seems like an age ago that I took off from Southampton - though it was only yesterday morning. Thank you MSFS. Merci Asobo. I have found my craft. Edited September 26, 20205 yr by Will Fly For Cheese
