How to wreck performance in MSFS with a decent rig
tgsweat replied to Cpt_Piett's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I can feel the heat in my office just from reading this post -
Its there, it just doesn't show up all the time. I've found that it depends on how the sun hits the clouds, then you see the grain.

Freezings after FG mod & adaptive LODs???
tgsweat replied to Bartul's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Because yes, for example my 4090 gets 120+ fps at cruise, but down to a crippling 50s on take off roll or short final into addon airports like KJFK with heavy traffic going. So every FPS counts in those situations. And I say crippling because 50FPS from FG is really like 25FPS and its not smooth anymore. -
November 29th 2023 - Developer Stream
tgsweat replied to Tuskin38's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
On my goodness, i'm so excited for this. It was by biggest issue i had with ground handling. Outside of the initial touchdown handling. -
The iniBuild A320neo is now available in SU14 Beta
tgsweat replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Would you like inibuilds to work on those bugs? I don't get what this has to do with a developer that does not work on the core sim. Two things can happen at once. -
My 4090 works just fine with no CTDs and i've undervolted and overclocked.

Is a DX12 VRAM fix feasible in MSFS?
tgsweat replied to regis9's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I upgraded to a 4090 for this reason. I got tired of maxing out VRAM. I kept upgrading from 3080, 4070, 4080 until i just bit the bullet and purchased the 4090 and its been the best thing i've done. Highest VRAM I see now is about 18gb wtih maxed settings at inibuilds airports and no stutters. -
Yet another magic "stutter fix" video on Youtube.
tgsweat replied to Fielder's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I agree with this. I upgraded to a 4090 and was able to get a solid 60fps+ vs my old 35fps and its a world of different. I drank the 30fps locked is enough kool aid for a long time and now I can't go back lol -
Any update regarding the MSFS2020 PMDG 737 series?
tgsweat replied to LRBS's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Only thing i hate is the abruptness of the turns on AP, they are not smooth at all which they have acknowledged and hopefully fix soon. -
I think if people were having fun with their planes, the customer ratings wouldn't be so low. No?
-
I guess thats why I feel like FG use comes to personal preference. Locking at 30fps is all good, but it gives no room for that random slight drop thats the difference between smooth and stutter. Also, i thought 30fps was smooth until i upgraded to the 4070 and turned on FG and was then was getting 50fps+ during take off roll and switching camera views. The smoothness is completely different for me. I can't go back to 30fps, its just not the same experience as 60fps+ with FG. I think i have my settings good to a point where i get complete smoothness with FG.

Finally! I've been waiting on ground textures so this winter won't look so green. -
Some observations on what impacts FPS
tgsweat replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Its not bad at all. FG with TAA is a game changer. I used to think the same when i had my 3080 and tried DLSS. But DLSS with FG and TAA looks the same as plain TAA as far as screen sharpness. I stepped up to a 4070 (which is kind of side ways without FG) just for FG and don't regret it at all. Now i'm looking to go 4090 just to combat airports like inibuilds JFK because the 4070 helped a lot there, but still struggles. -
I've always gotten this at KDTW. That airport wrecks the cpu and VRAM. Have to turn my settings way down just to be able to land in one piece.
-
DX11 and DX12 looks the exact same to me. Just less frame drops on approach with DX11.

From reading these comments i'm in the minority. I don't see the problems and that might be a result of how i use the page. I just go on, search what i'm looking for, download and leave. I do some browsing sometimes to find some new mods, but that hasn't been hindered for me. But i mostly use it for liveries and airports which is still easy to find.

No more live weather thunderstorms?
tgsweat replied to UAL4life's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I've actually seen some lately after not seeing any for a long time -
I'm curious, and maybe I have a wrong understanding of 2024, but if its going to do everything 2020 does and more, why is there such a concern with 2020? addons will work with 2024, with some dev updates i'm sure, so why not let them put the focus on fixing those things in 2024. I'm going to guess that once 2024 is released, everyone will forget about 2020 because why would you need it?
