September 27, 20205 yr I'd like to know if the default can occur at an airport with the aircraft sitting on the runway---as all other sims. tc
September 27, 20205 yr You mean can you spawn on the runway with the aircraft ready to go? If that's the question then yes, just select your airport and runway voila! You will be spawned on the runway fully configured. Thomas Derbyshire
September 27, 20205 yr Author I meant the sim starts at the runway at a designated airport. In all the other sims, we can create and save a default start up. When you start the sim, the aircraft is automatically placed on the runway of your choice airport-- ready to go. tc
September 27, 20205 yr I suspect the best you can do is save a FLT file for your favourite aircraft, time of day, weather and runway. There MIGHT be a way to have tthe game autoload that FLT file but I do not have a clue how you would go about that.

September 28, 20205 yr What really annoys me, and it would be such an easy fix, when you select dep/arr airports, it never selects the current active runways. I have to zoom in and wait for the traffic plane icons to appear and set my runways accordingly. What an oversight. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

Sometimes, but when the wind is low and you aren't familiar with the airport operations, that won't work. And why does the sim ignore wind direction when selecting the runways? September 28, 20205 yr If you set it up as IFR then the Arrival sets it up as Approach instead of a runway, then ATC controls what runway you use. You can change it afterwards. James

I get the impression with non-live weather it allocates a runway then builds the weather around it as you can select a runway and the wind seems to always be just slightly off straight down the selected runway. Live weather seems a bit more erratic.

If you save a flight plan as a .flt you really don't get anything because the flight hasn't started. Think of it this way. If I'm saving it before I hit "Fly Now", I'm saving a .pln file. If I'm saving after I hit "Fly Now" I'm saving a .flt file.
