September 30, 20205 yr Hey guys, I did some test on the manual caching after installing 1.9.3.0. First weird things is the size of all area downloaded, a total of 7.26 MB for 7 high details regions on the cache tool but on the current data consumption I used 1 GB. Secondly, if after the cache is full of the regions I want, and my internet is fast enough, no problem, I got this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Jjykh1_91QnSqtTkto4L49XV_JmPh4Kq/view?usp=sharing But, if my connection is too slow I got this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z1cbdMkXI6zyUz-A0T-o79UprMAYmR__/view?usp=sharing If i am disabling bing data world graphics and photogrammetry, I got the same as above, this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/14xRjRoJzE2SFJDeUOfS_7ULXIntbPRRC/view?usp=sharing Finally, if I have no cache and no connection, I have the same results as the last two. Caching is supposed to make you able to play offline with the online render, or is it useless? BTW : pictures are bright because of HDR
October 1, 20205 yr Author OK, after talking a bit on the flight simulator forum. Only photogrammetry cities and POI can be cache. So it's useless to cache a local airport and the scenery around it sadly

October 1, 20205 yr what might be helpful then is if the Photogrammetry areas are highlighted on the map - or do away with the map and just have a box tick option to allow selection of photogrammetry Cities. New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. October 1, 20205 yr Author I have not tried it because of my bad connection, but if it the same logical as manual cache it won't work

Yes I agree, right not we don't know the exact limit of what can be downloaded Here is a picture of Marseille, left is offline render and right is manual cache high https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fDzu7DWkC9FZw-pKwsozqQkHN5IJQqLq/view?usp=sharing And also it seems that if you pickup a zone outside what can be cache the entire selected area won't work, only 1-2 MB Edited October 1, 20205 yr by bendead

October 1, 20205 yr Disable any caching. Perfect experience. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

October 1, 20205 yr Author Ok, so even more tests. NZMF, top : online, middle : cached in high, bottom : offline LFVO, top : online, middle : cached in high, bottom : offline So again, manual cache is good for flying above 0.1% of the world, for the rest it's useless
October 1, 20205 yr Author Also I have been watching this video again https://youtu.be/BZL5PCZO8cc?t=397 By arbitrary, did he meant not limited in choice or depending of their own selection? Edited October 1, 20205 yr by bendead
October 1, 20205 yr I don't think you have the right reason for the Cache system. It is to make the game smoother for areas you fly over a lot. It is not for playing offline.

October 1, 20205 yr Mmmmmm. Irrespective of the possible uses for the manual cache I did some tests on NZMF myself. I made a High manual cache of about 30x30 little squares centered on the airstrip. I tried starting at the end of 29 still online and get the top pick. I then exited back to the main menu, pulled my internet connection, game set me offline, then went back to NZMF from the world map and my view was identical just like the first pick with trees all down the side of the runway. I do have screenshots uploaded but the image url system here does not seem to want to share them. My manual cache for around the airport is 797KB CJ
