Aspen fogged in!

Featured Replies

Isn’t it suppose to be snowing in Aspen?

Maybe the sim creates fog due to lack of snow falling weather graphic?

Wow that looks great. I always hand fly approaches from 3000ft in the A320 regardless of weather and that looks seriously challenging. That looks an awesome place fly to right now. Shame I am at work!

Not sure myself, not American, but I guess that makes sense somewhat in terms of visibility drawbacks in sim. Would be cool either way.

What are you talking about? I've seen snow falling 🤦🏿‍♂️

snow and fogged in at ASPEN? as unreal as it gets. this is the current Metar: and webcam confirms: blue sky, not a single cloud whatsoever:

dang, can we get a rewind an hour to see how delayed meteoblue is in terms of weather injection into the nearest metar

Why don´t you just set up foggy weather at Aspen when you come back home? 😁

I only fly in real world weather. For some reason setting a preset or manual weather seems wrong to me (I may be a bit weird :).

From my testing, snow only appears in MSFS if the outside temperature is below zero.

Like if you go to weather presets, select rain but the modify the outside temperature, it will start snowing instead.

I've noticed this with live weather as well. If it's snowing according to the METAR, but the temperature is too high it appears as rain.

Meteoblue works on predictions not METAR.

correct, but it has to predict based of a set of metar conditions handed to it. it doesn't just roll the dice and call it a day.

yes, there is snow on the ground in ASPEN but not snowing right now, nor clouds, nor fog etc.

blue sky, as in Meteo-BLUE. but there the similarity ends:aspenwebcamoctober27zsj9l.jpg

sounds good, take a cookie for your efforts. I still enjoyed the mess it caused on departure. Was glorious!

the weather does seem to have a sync issue, showing something from behind or ahead.

"I still enjoyed the mess it caused on departure. Was glorious! "

this is why simulated, yet wrong weather, can sometimes be more fun than as real as it gets.

you would not have flown there at today's weather:

"The airport has several published non-precision instrument approaches. All are "circle-to-land;" the lowest gets you down to 2,000' AGL. All require three miles of flight visibility to continue below minimum descent altitude. These approaches often leave Aspen below minimums."

besides:

RESTRICTED TO MAXIMUM ACFT WINGSPAN OF 95 FT.

Airbus A320: wingspan of 35.8 meters = 117.42 ft

thanks for all the cookies. very welcome replacement for the delayed update 5.
