October 31, 20205 yr Does anyone know of a configuration setting or a mod that corrects the distortion that occurs in the edges of the display when running with a ultrawide setup? Is anyone running with triples here? Are you able to correct the image? // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //
October 31, 20205 yr I have a 3440x1440 monitor and highering zoom to 0.7 essentially removed the fish-eye effect. It's also more close to the natural viewing angle. I just recently moved from a 3 monitor setup (on my Dev PC not my main FS PC) to a single Ultrawide 5120 x 1440 (Samsung Odyssey G9) and no issues with distortion other than FOV induced? Cheers, Rob. No confusion here. I assumed people running on triples would see the same thing as I did on my 5120*1440. Changing the Cockpit Zoom level to 70-80 helped a lot. I had it set too low. // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //
October 31, 20205 yr There are a series of three videos on YouTube about the most natural zoom setting without fish-eye effect for FSX/P3D. I have been using the resulting setting (1.0, or slightly less with WideViewAspect=True, according to the refinement in video 3) under P3D for years. Unfortunately, this can't be transferred directly to MSFS as the numerical zoom values are different. I made a series of screenshots comparing this 'optimum' P3D setting with different MSFS settings in exactly the same place at KSFO. The result was a MSFS zoom setting of 0.7. (Actually a bit higher but this may lead to degraded buildings, notably with photogrammetry, thus I settled with 0.7 for now.) In any case the MSFS default of 0.5 is certainly quite low (but may help performance). October 31, 20205 yr So I've been playing with this in both sims since I got my new monitor... It's one area P3D has a leg up. In P3D within the sim you can define a monitor "curve" or angle. It's designed for triples to prevent distortion but in sim racing we use it to prevent the "stretching" of the wing mirrors on the side of the screen. MSFS and P3D have the same stretching effect by default. You can see it as you pan the view and the things on the sides of the screen stretch. With P3D you can define a view group and manually adjust the angle of the sides to offset the stretching. MSFS doesn't support the ability to define the view angle of the "side" or ultrawide portion of the screen yet but I do believe they are working on it... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Neither had I but research and reviews really came up with nothing but positives and the zero dead pixel warranty was the clincher for me... Specs were everything I needed but I ordered off Amazon figuring I would return it if I wasn't happy and I was so impressed I ordered a 2nd instead... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
