November 4, 20205 yr https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/588646-installation-woes-via-ms-store-how-widespread/ I don't like the idea of a 3rd party (Steam, for example) when the default method works well. Regardless though, so far this poll already suggest horror stories are very over represented in various threads. When I buys software I go to supplier website and buy it If you want to buy the game outright there are only two choices, the Steam Store and the Microsoft Store. If anyone else is offering it they are just supplying a code to activate on one of those two stores. Currently buying through steam puts the files in a more accessible location . The Microsoft store puts them in an encrypted/protected location by default. It all depends who you trust long-term to do the right thing I suppose. Both companies are on the evil monopolistic side of things. (though neither are anywhere near as bad as Apple) . Personally I have zero faith in Valve to do anything reasonable long-term and went with Microsoft. I have had a long standing dislike of Steam dating back 10 years or more. I especially dislike the way you have to run steam to play ( though in a pinch if Steam have a monopoly on a game I will use it if forced to) . My personal choice was MS as I thought it was the lesser of two evils. I got around most of the issues by installing my local cache and packages in a custom location. TL&DR (ignoring the "who is the more evil" debate) Steam PRO vs MS - less hassles with accessing your files - Steam store is less clunky and weird than the MS one Steam CONS vs MS - steam users allegedly get some updates/patches/fixes with a slight delay Edited November 5, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

Thanks in advance for any help ! 🙂 Paul 1. Ignore the "horror stories" 2. Stay away from the forums, where you'll find mostly useless "voodoo fixes" 3. Read all prompts during install carefully before you click any buttons. 4. If something goes wrong, carefully examine at what stage it went wrong. 5. If the sim crashes at any point, go into the Event Viewer and look at the error log. 6. Buy your copy from the Windows Store to avoid confusion. Edited November 5, 20205 yr by Ricardo41
November 5, 20205 yr Bought it off Steam. Zero issues. Zero problems. And the main reason i did so, was because i wanted easy access to the sim. And because most of my purchases are on steam. Regards Mike Intel 12700k No over clocking 32GB G-Skill 3600 Ram MSI RTX3080
