hello 

i have a very strange problem in the qw787. what happes is that the plane starts to move even when the throttle are at idle. I have to set up the parking brakes all the time to stop it.

Does anyone have a solution to this.

any help would be appreciated

Make sure your throttle(s) are properly calibrated.  Jets at idle wile normally cause the aircraft to move.  Make sure your parking brake is set before engine start and use brakes while taxiing.

I would say it isn't a strange problem at all; at least two of the big jets in my virtual hangar will move @IDLE POWER (see what I did there! ), namely the Sky Simulations MD-11 and the DC Designs Concorde. I've not comprehensively checked the rest of the stable, but I think the BBS 'Buses also do that. 🍻

Have you added/enabled any of the FSUIPC mods (either through a LUA or the INI) regarding ground friction? This may explain the issue.

Now, in real life, this might be an issue, specially if using any modern twin airliner (A320 and newer). Reason: with an engine failure after V1, the aircraft must be able to take off with only one engine. Take two powerful engines, a lightly loaded aircraft, and see what I mean. But, in summary, it's better to ask at the QW forums.

I guess so: they add their own LUA for adjusting ground friction. Did you get also the narrowbodies?

just one last question. how can I change the units of weight in the qw787 from lbs to kgs. after I change it from the dispatcher but it still remains. there is a question and it is answered on the qw forums. but i couldnt do it as i have the 787

I do notice, with default aircraft anyway, is that if your default flight is not in a cold and dark state, then when you start a flight in the sim the aircraft will lurch ahead even if your physical throttle controller is at 0%.  I had to slightly advance my physical throttle and then move it back to 0% to get the proper engine setting to keep my aircraft still.  Having the default flight in a cold and dark state and with parking brakes engaged helps with that.  If the OP meant even when the aircraft had been running for a while (like when taxiing, for instance) then never mind.

oh yes this same happens with me when i start at a gate the plane starts moving forward.

I think it was in the CDUs. Select any of them and change it to Info. One of the available tabs is about settings. Change it there.

I got the answer thanks to luis hernandez go to the INFO page on the front displays and there is an option of QWConfig. Here you will find many options. One of them is weight units. Change it KGS if you want and save the config settings by pressing the 'Save Config' button below

I have the same issue whenever I load the aircraft using the dispatcher or the QW load agent. Before i load aircraft, the aircraft did not move on its own even when I did not set the parking break. But after i load the aircraft, the aircraft starts moving on its own and keep accelerating even when my throttle is at idle. Quite annoying for me as I have to always apply the brake and keep monitoring the ground speed when taxi.

Is this normal or i miss something that might cause this issue?

You have to keep monitoring the speed while taxing. As soon as you load the QW787 remember to set the parking brakes.

Yes, this is normal. It is stated in the manual and multiple 787 airline pilots have echoed the same. These are some of the most powerful engines (high-bypass turbofan jet engine) both from GE and Rolls-Royce; and unless you are fully laden for a transatlantic flight you will crawl if your parking breaks aren't set. Also because the aircraft can easily exceed the taxi speeds at idle throttle when taxiing, the technique used for taxiing it to tap the brakes periodically to slow down rather than ride them to maintain a constant speed. The problem is if you ride them you overheat them then you can't take off until they cool down. The rule is you don't take off with overheated breaks, in the event you need to abort the take off the breaks would be useless.
