November 9, 20205 yr The Antonov AN-225 What is this? Hi, I have decided to undertake the production of an add-on plane for Microsoft flight simulator 2020 and i have chosen for it to be the Antonov AN-225. I am making this post as I am seeking to gather developers to actually help me produce this plane as this is a humongous undertaking. We will not be striving for study-level initially but detailed enough so that starting it from cold and dark is sufficiently satisfying. Who do i need? I, personally have experience in 3D modelling and have just started work on the exterior model of this plane. Currently i would say the team would require 2 to 3 additional modelers to help with the interior model and animations along with the more finer details. I am also looking for developers who can help code the plane and with any luck out there actual pilots. I know there is only one AN-225 in service so any pilot working on extra heavy aircraft is helpful. What do i need? Currently, I am also scouring for documentation related to the planes avionic and am also looking for blueprints of the cockpit itself to construct it. This project aims to be freeware and will be open-source.

Any Antonov project is a difficult task because all available documentation in a russian language. I would recommend you to make An-124. Here some An-124 documents, but all in a russian language. November 9, 20205 yr Cool, I worked in Antonov company when AN-225 made its maiden flight. May years later was lucky to spend a week training in full motion sim of AN-124/225 (which actually share exactly the same cockpit with an exception of number of throttles) Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). November 10, 20205 yr I'd certainly be interested in the 124 or 225, amazing aircraft. I stepped off the plane in Finland for an ice hockey tournament I was playing in, to see a 124 on the apron beside us. Huge! I can only imagine what a 225 looks like in reality. I did have freeware versions of both aircraft in FSX. November 10, 20205 yr I have seen the 124 several times but still waiting to see an 225... good luck with the project, hearing 6 engines roaring will be awesome! And then there's the twin-tail vertical stabilizer, where the 124 only has the single tail. Plus, you know, 6 engines vs 4. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

Was just wondering about the width since it is essentially a massively modded 124 they made to carry the Buran. I gather there is an unfinished 2nd 225 sitting in the factory, hope it gets built. Amazing machines. They should update it with newgen engines, 2 crew glass pit etc. Not in the current climate for sure, lets wait and see what the future holds.
November 10, 20205 yr They were working on that second one for awhile, but then the global economy tanked and they never restarted, as I recall. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

Soviet Union cease to exist and need for Burnan (Soviet shuttle) hauler was no longer needed. I was working at Antonov in 1988 when AN-225 was completed. So I've seen both events: the first hanger roll out and the first flight on AN-225 with my own eyes 🙂 Also, my father was involved in test flying bothe airplanes An-124 and An-225. So coincidentally I know a lot about development, productions ,and testing both aircraft Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). November 11, 20205 yr I was talking about a later period when there were plans to pull the partially-built second 225 out of mothballs and complete it. In, I think 2015 or 2016 China signed a deal with Antonov to finish the plane by some time last year, but then the project ran out of money and China hasn't given them any more. They need around a quarter billion to finish it. I can't imagine the pandemic is giving us any cause for more optimism that the project will be finished any time soon. Yes this probably was after I was long gone. When I was training in 124 sim, there were Iranian pilots training for AN-74.
