Can avoid update by discontectin internet?

Featured Replies

Say you turn on airplane mode of wifi. Can you now bipass the update screen and proceed to the sim if there is an update available?

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I believe if you start the sim every time offline you can then reconnect to  the internet once you are past the update window.

HOWEVER -  note that I have never tried this myself so proceed at your own risk. (I would have assumed the sim would report "wrong server version" but who knows, it might work)

No you can't, it will prompt access to internet at the check for update screen, I have the Steam version.

System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

As with any game that is a live service, online authentication is essential. Even if you choose to fly 'offline' .. the sim is still connected to an xbox gamertag and I can only assume to prevent piracy, it verifies your client version.

If you are afraid of the update, as myself, let the pioneers go first and then you decide when your time will be.

You can just switch off internet and start in offline mode, works well with the steam version

So there appears to be one big advantage to the Steam version over the Microsoft store version no one talked about back when I bought my copy.  I have the Microsoft version, and it will not start without the internet connected.  There is no 'Offline Mode' that I have been able to find.
