Those who fly on Vatsim - how are your FPS with VPilot?

Featured Replies

My FPS drop by 10 when I connect to Vatsim using VPilot (it was my first time trying it).

Searching the forums I can see people complaining about this issue early on but nothing since.

Is this something that can be fixed or we have to wait for Asobo to patch something?

Happened to me too, it takes a big hit. And depending on weather and traffic it can be barely playable. But ive a small CPU, RAM and GPU so i guess thats to be expected.

I've got a i9/2080ti I normally get 35-45 fps vipilot takes it down to 25-30.

Now 25-30 is still good but there's a smoothness you get past 30fps that's very noticeable when it's gone!

I hope they fix it because when you think about the game can natively provide line online traffic with no massive fps drop - it should be the same for Vatsim.

Are you flying from a very heavy traffic airport?  Heavy traffic airports have a lot of other VATSIM traffic so maybe that is impacting your FPS.

I usually fly a Cessna 172 from airports that aren't very busy. I haven't noticed a huge FPS drop of 10 FPS for myself (my specs are in my signature).

i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I noticed a small difference, but when i put vpilot in host/remote mode with the front end on a networked computer... much better.

After the initial problems with vPilot and MSFS were resolved, I have not seen any issues with a loss of FPS and I have flown quite a few hours on VATSIM using vPilot.  I do run vPilot using a networked host/remote mode and I feel developers like Ross Carlson (vPilot) should be praised for their outstanding work and devotion to providing this client software to our community.

@ highflyer2020 -- with your high end hardware and your reported loss of FPS, there is something seriously wrong going on. Are you running the latest version of vPilot?. Have you tried removing the vPilot software and reinstalling?  Have you visited the forum referenced above ?  That loss of FPS should NOT be happening on your PC.

I have no impact although I use IVAO CSL for VATSIM.

Yeah I downloaded it fresh last night ... my setup is more or less vanilla I'm lucky to enjoy an otherwise good experience with FS2020 with no stutters etc. like others end up having.

I'll have a look at the forum post and try re-installing - thanks!
