A nice look at fall foliage courtesy of Bijan at BijanStudio and his Fall Season mod.

Passing over eastern Connecticut, the Thames River reflecting as it flows toward Groton and the Long Island Sound.  Groton is the home of the U.S. Navy's major east coast submarine base.  Yes you Brits, there is a Thames River over here....

Now over south central Connecticut with a view of New Haven Harbor and the Quinnipiac river at the Fair Haven, New Haven area.  New Haven was the first "planned city" in the U.S. and was home to the famous inventor Eli Whitney (the cotton gin among his many inventions), Yale University, and the Winchester Rifle Co. among its other history.

A time for some solitude over Long Island Sound, just a few minutes out of the hustle and bustle of the New York City metro area.

Passing over Brooklyn,NY, Newtown Creek just off the tail. Nice view of Manhattan

Passing by Trenton-Mercer County Airport (KTTN) north of Philadelphia, about to pass over Washington's Crossing, where General George Washington crossed his troops across the Delaware River to the Battle of Trenton, a battle that altered the course of the Revolutionary War. You can see the Delaware River flowing south along the right edge of this image.

The sun starting to get low, late in the afternoon, passing over the Delaware Bay south of Wilmington, Delaware.

A view of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Wonder if it got it's name due to it's proximity to Dover Air Force Base.  I had been fighting a still headwind all the way from Connecticut that slowed my airspeed at times to under 100 knots.  Those headwinds stretched my flight to 3.6 hours.  You can see whitecaps below on the Delaware Bay.

Out the left side is the high-banked Dover International Speedway, otherwise known as NASCAR racing's "Monster Mile".  In contrast in the distance past the racetrack below, you can see Dover AFB.  This airbase always strikes a somber mood when I fly past, or when I visit the museum there.  Dover is headquarters of the Air Mobility Command (AMC), formerly known as the Military Airlift Command. AMC has as it's function the movement of troops and military equipment. My somber feeling is because Dover is also the entry point in the eastern USA for our military members killed or badly wounded in action.  When I served in the Air Weather Service during Viet Nam, the weather service was under the leadership of MAC.

Speaking of those headwinds....  Rex Weather Force is giving me higthly accurate weather, including winds aloft.  To difficult to see the wind indication on the G1000.  It was spot-on all day when compared to the real life wind indications on the sim-connected moving map of the Fltplan Go app on my iPad.  However the MSFS 2020 ATIS is still totally screwed up.  At 2,500 ft both the G1000 and Fltplan Go were showing winds from the SW at 20 to 25 knots.  ATIS, as you can see in this image, was reporting 69 knot winds from the due south.

Finally on the ground at my home airport, trying to decide where to park.  Sadly, KESN, Easton-Newnan Regional Airport, has only one strangely tall building at the NE end of the ramp, and a tower on the SW end of the ramp.  The locations of other hangars and structures is evidenced only by flat blobs of color on the ground.  Come on Asobo!

Nice trek down the east coast, beautiful day for it.  Good to hear that weather force held up for proper weather depiction.

Great shots!

I took a C5 out of Dover to Bahrain.  Can't say I enjoyed the ride. 😞 The plane is certainly not built for passenger comfort (on a looooong flight to boot).  We sat up in the wing root area.   When we landed I was half-frozen and half-deaf (They hand you an old wool military blanket and a set of ear plugs when you board...that was not a reassuring thing...but we sure did need them!!)
When they opened the door, it was 115 on the ramp....welcome to the Middle East!  Thought the air was getting sucked out of my chilled lungs when I breathed in that hot, arid desert air for the 1st time!

Open wide and say...."Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

You can also see a Gulf Air L1011 in the background, as well as a Russian-made turboprop transport (the name escapes me... "Coaler" maybe?).

I flew on a C-5A from McCord to Japan in 1992.  Was on a TDY with the 5th Engineers Battalion out of Ft Leonard Wood, Mo.  My oldest uncle was in the first trained class of  loadmasters on the C-5A. First at Altus AFB, then later at Charleston AFB.   He crossed trained from a B36 that had been outfitted as a mid-air refueler. Not sure what he was on prior to that.
