November 18, 200619 yr Why this works I don't have a clue and I didn't convert anything. All I did was rename a water texture from my FS9/world/texture folder 123b2su1.bmp to in this case Beech_Baron_58_reflection.dds & C172_reflection.dds after backing up the originals. I used a fs9 texture but the corresponding fsx texture would probably also work and I haven't noticed any blue tints. System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
November 18, 200619 yr I downloaded the tool above that Robert used. It worked. I used the same color blue that was in the window area of the relection texture (actually kind of blue/green) and painted the whole thing that color, named it the same as orignal (after backing it up of course) and no more reflection (and no tint) after restarting FSX.I think that reflection was taxing my poor 9800 pro too, because when I'm flying in a non-city area, my FPS is defenitely higher. Other wise, my video memory is the limiting factor. DFW area for instance.Oh, the RGB value of the "blue" color I used for the C172 is:R 125G 171B 169Hope this helps. And thanks to whoever brought up the subject in the first place!
November 18, 200619 yr Nope it will not effect out side view the tint is still on the outside it will just remove the refection from the inside plus you get some more FPS and to me a better view. All you have to do is make a dummy DDS reflection file for the plane you want to remove the glare from.
November 19, 200619 yr Here you go this is for the Baron 58 you can use it on any Aircraft just rename it to that planes reflection DDS. Make sure you back up the file your replacing so you don't have any problems in case you don't like it.Now this works fine on my Ati x1800 card. Remeber back up your files before you use it. Also run a virus scan on any file you download to be safe.
November 19, 200619 yr I really thank you for this file and fix. It works perfect in every aircraft. Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
November 19, 200619 yr The supplied fix dds file DID NOT work for me, all my baron VC windows are green tinted (from the inside) at night | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

November 19, 200619 yr HiStrange..fix works on the A321 but not on Lear or Goose.Any reason it would work on some ,but not on others??? cheers steve
November 19, 200619 yr Uh nooooo, look at your VC at night, green tints!!!It used to be clear at night! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
November 19, 200619 yr Not sure what to say guys its worked on every one of my planes. You can try this new one.As before this one works fine on my computer with an ATI x1800 vid card. You have to rename it to the reflection file your going to replace. Make sure you back up the replacment texure your going to replace and as always virus scan any files you download. Both have worked for me so not sure why others would have problems.
November 19, 200619 yr Did this on the Maule and green tint also. You can also tell, at least for me, during the day if you look out at a 45 partially through the windshield and the side window, you can see the tint is mildly different.Bob
November 19, 200619 yr Try this for no reflections...The last posted file seemed to be a touch off. I had the tint also but created this one that seems to work for me.Don't forget to rename it properly put it in the correct folder..Regards,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161512.zip
November 19, 200619 yr Maybe one of you guys can solve it.:) Its been a while since I worked with DDS files not since CFS3.Yep a DXT3 or 5 will give 100% transparency with no martian after glow my boo-boo guys.:)
November 19, 200619 yr It still is perfectly clear during the day but there is a green tint at night. Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
