But it is Microsoft Flight Simulator that truly represents the most brutal maxed-out performance testing here at the tail end of 2020. Even the 2080 only barely reaches 60fps with “high-end” settings (not quite MaxQ).

Microsoft Flight Simulator
1440 ULTRA (MaxQ)
• RTX 3060 Ti: 32 fps
• RTX 3070: 38 fps
• RTX 3080: 47 fps
1440 HIGH-END
• RTX 3060 Ti: 38 fps
• RTX 3070: 45 fps
• RTX 3080: 60 fps
2160 ULTRA (MaxQ)
• RTX 3060 Ti: 28 fps
• RTX 3070: 34 fps
• RTX 3080: 43 fps
2160 HIGH-END
• RTX 3060 Ti: 35 fps
• RTX 3070: 42 fps
• RTX 3080: 57 fps

Each of the benchmark results shown above represent performance of each graphics card in the same machine with the most updated NVIDIA drivers available.

There's MSI, Gigabyte and Zotac and PNY around.

I actually just bought an RTX 3090 Founders Edition from Scan. Price wasn't too much of a ripoff, cheaper than the AIB cards above. Plus I get 20% taken off for Channel Islands.

And isnt it mental that I just bought a 3090 founders for slightly less than they are STILL selling the 2080 TI. Go figure.

I just got notifications telling me they are ... drum roll ... still unavailable with no ETA of arrival.  This is for 3090, AMD 5950X

Did you get a valid shipping number and it actually shipped?

US side nothing actually in stock, some places claiming in stock and willing to take money but then say 3-6 week delivery... I guess they define “in stock” as “virtual stock” 😉

Even the eBay scalpers claiming to have them, but actually don’t.

Hopefully January or February this ridiculous situation will end.

You can get them now with many of the builds like Alienware etc.

Do Founders Edition 3090 have a different fan/cooling approach than the others?

Yep, it was from Scan, reliable company After I ordered mine they were no longer in stock.

However... a few minutes ago I rang them and canceled the order. It was an impulse decision last night to buy. Stupid of me really as I won't be building just yet. Will use my common sense and wait for the card I originally wanted, an EVGA.

There are a few around here in the UK, from places like Novatech etc. 3090's, no 3080's that I can find. Palit, the Gigabyte blower version is around. Quite a few Zotac's, OCUK had 10 plus in stock but they have now sold.. An MSI at Novatech. 8 left.

Yes. The founders edition has a top fan and weirdly a fan underneath. They do cool well though by all accounts and not too bad for noise levels. 50% of the warm air is vented out of the rear and 50% through the side of the cooler into the case.

The AIB cards are tending to have three fans. Not much gets vented outside of the case but such an arrangement has worked fine for many years.

There is a Gigabyte version around with the classic 100% blower arrangement. Pretty sure that guy will be noisy though.

I like the idea of that for sure.  Will there be a 3080Ti FE do we know?  That would be my choice or 3090 FE.

I have been looking there and reported one listing that was Buy It Now I think for $1500, but it was just a photo of the box which the seller stated, which was of course a scam, so I reported and they took it down and maybe the seller too.  How did you learn 'they' don't actually have them?  The eBay support person I reported the scammer to said had I made the purchase of the photo of a 3090 for $1500 eBay would have honored the refund under their buyer protection routine.

Not sure if there's ever going to be a Ti to be honest. The 3090 is pretty much the equivalent of the Titan so maybe not. Its a colossally powerful card the 3090.

Overclockers and Scan now showing some 3090`s in stock.

Well, I hope they make enough of them so you can actually purchase an FE model again.  I really like the cooling design it just seems crude to not blow heat out of the box.  Are there any other designs that blow heat out of the case do you know?  I would consider those.
