December 1, 20205 yr I just skimmed the document. It's a lot of work/Overhead for just one screen.. Left Window or Right window If MSFS has multiple windows like P3D/FSX, we can add two or even 3 video cards and add left window, right window and front view and be done with it. in P3D cockpit set up I had 3 monitors for front view (can be replaced with 49" monitor) and one 24" monitor for left window. I can add another 24" for right window. With recent CPUs and recent Video cards, its doable I think. Just a thought. Edited December 1, 20205 yr by Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

Clouds are usually synchronized (better explained: if you fly inside a cloud, all the clients will be inside the same cloud). Currently, the weather should be set locally (on each computer), cause, the weather in MSFS is still not officially "open" to developers. On my personal setup, I fixed this using Unreal Weather mod for FS2020, so I just get real weather on every computer without any manual action (if, from time to time, I just want a weather theme, I select it manually on each computer... not so hard as it could seems). AI Traffic can be synchronized via Widetraffic, but only AI airplanes (not ground vehicles), once again because the SDK / SimConnect still doesn't allow this (but meybe in the future).

It is so difficult to get decent performance with just 1 monitor in MSFS, that I couldn't imagine with 3 monitors running 4K at ultra. Currently MSFS doesn't take advantage from multiple video cards in SLI mode, they will make no significant difference in terms of FPS.

I could have 1 single 49" curved monitor for front and two 24" monitor for left and right window. One RTX 3090 should do. Or I can add my GTX 1070 card for left and right window. I remember I experimented with Fresnel lens for 20" monitor 3:4 and it looked awesome. Could not find a good Fresnel lens for 24" wide monitor. so I gave up that idea. It gave me an almost 3 D feeling when I looked out my left window 20" 3:4 window. I still have that plastic Fresnel lens.. I got from Taiwan. I'm especially wondering about airports with sloped runways, since those are not supported in FSX, but they are in MSFS. The difference in runway / airport altitude among FSX and MSFS will be fixed automatically by WidevieW. Therefore, also the new sloping runways in MSFS will not be a problem for FSX/P3D running on server. If there is some small difference in horizontal position of the runway, this can be fixed through a guided procedure available in WidevieW for FSX/P3D (but if the runway is in a totally different location, hundreds of feet away, it will be necessary to fix FSX/P3D scenery with a scenery design tool). Flying a lot in Alaska, in the USA, in UK and Italy, so far, I didn't find any runway that required to re-design the scenery.
December 1, 20205 yr @lucianon - Thank you for bringing up this fantastic option for multi-monitors. How would you describe or quantify the degree of lag between computers that are each running MSFS. Thanks! 10900K, 3080TI, Maximus XIII, 32 GB, Win10.

Setting everything to very low or zero, there will be no lag. The intellismooth option of WidevieW is meant to re-create artificially packets when a server is unable to send at a sustained rate: this will make clients much smoother (even if server is very slow) but may increase the lag (but usually this is very small, comparable to X-Plane running in the same conditions).
December 2, 20205 yr Great! Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to trying it out! 10900K, 3080TI, Maximus XIII, 32 GB, Win10.
December 2, 20205 yr This sounds almost too good to be true. Will all navigational aids function as they should, e.g. ILS landings and so on? The ILS will take you to the runway? Are there things with this setup that do not function properly?

Yes, you are basically flying FSX but seeing MSFS scenery out of the windows, MarkH https://www.youtube.com/@AlmostAviation AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / 64Gb DDR5 / Zotac RTX 5070 Ti / 2560 x 1440 display

There is a guided procedure available in WidevieW for FSX-PD3, letting to match actual runway position in MSFS, so the ILS on FSX-P3D will not point you off runway's centerline. Altitude correction of runway is instead done automatically, including the altitude of sloping runways (most runways already match well between FSX/P3D and MSFS, so they do not require neither any manual procedure to fix them).

April 1, 20224 yr Is XPlane compatible with wideview? E.g using Xplane to run avionics software and on another computer MSFS as the visual generator. Thanks Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
