Sudden CTD every time V5

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Trying to start a flight from SimWings EGLL with QW 787 that I've done a million times.

Get to the menu screen, select aircraft, airport, click ok and then the whole programme crashes to desktop every single time.

Please help!

Pretty sure this is about trueglass, have you tried disabling it in the main p3d folder?

I'd start by rebooting the computer and then try to start a flight with a default acft at a default airport.

If that doesn't work, I restore my last good configuration snapshot using Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Organizer and try again after another reboot.

P3D Addon Manager takes snapshots of your config files (all of them in one easy click), which can be used to rapidly restore things to working order after a disorderly shutdown or other glitch boogers-up a config file somewhere.  Takes a lot less time than trying to troubleshoot where things might have gone wrong, or (horrors) having to delete your generated files and reinstall a bunch of add-ons.

Do we still have to set up our default flight with a default aircraft at a default airport?  I asked this question when I ran FSX, but I didn't think it was necessary in P3d.

Of course, if it means that everything that needs to "load" will load by doing that, I will change my default setup immediately.  Would love to hear if others are doing that or if it's really recommended.

Maybe it is related, today I got my first CTD with 5.1HF1 while loading QWs 787. The CTD occurred after a "DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED" message, which is obviously not the the often discussed "DEVICE HUNG" error. I call it DEAD error message, because things went even worse. After this, as you, I could not even load any flight any more. Starting P3D, I reached the Welcome Screen but then, always CTD with the DEAD message, no matter which a/c or saved flight I tried to load.

To make a long and stressful story short: Uninstalled QW 787, run the P3D client repair function, re-installed QW 787. Pooh, all is good again (knock on wood ...)

Pretty sure its the trueglass dll in your P3D guages folder. I was getting DXGI and other crashes even with freeware/default aircraft at some airports. Chucked the trueglass dll out of the guages folder and I've been flying QW, PMDG, Majestic and Carenado for hours on end with no crashes.

I was getting DXGI crashes in the Maddog until I renamed the trueglass.dll file as @FrankSalo just mentioned. Magic cure.

All of a sudden I've been having the same issue.  It started with the QW 757 and now it affects all aircraft, including Pmdg.  I've been trying to figure it out for two days.  I deleted trueglass.dll a long time ago and I made sure it's still not in the gauges folder.  I've uninstalled everything and reinstalled them all.  The issue remains.......very frustrating

Did you guys updated your nvidia drivers short before getting those crashes? If yes....it is the trueglass.dll.

Because they seem related.

If you turn trueglass.dll off. Stat P3D once. Start a flight. Stop P3D. Turn trueglass.dll on again. That should be it and working now.

Sometimes I have to do this twice.

After you update your nvidia driver, you have to do this again.

There seem to be issues with this driver combined with trueglass.dll

Marcua, I did update the driver but I was having the issue before the update.  Not sure I follow...why would there be a conflict with trueglass.dll if it is no longer in the directory?

OK. sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you had trueglass.dll still "in there".

Did you deactivate reallight also? Maybe it has it´s issues too (QW787.CFG tool).
