Hi there,

I have been having a terrible time trying to add addons to the community folder. I have been using the tool called "linker", but i don't know how it works i keep getting error messages. I usually see like simobjects but i'm not sure whether to over write it or not.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let's start from the beginning.

Download the latest version.

Outside the MSFS folder create a MSFS Add-ons folder. Inside the folder create folders for your mods such as Planes, Liveries, Scenery, Airports, Utilities, etc.

Drop all your mods into their respective folders.

Let me know when you have done all the above.

thanks for the help @DJJose

just a little caution and precision with the 'drop your mods into their respective folders'. As explained in my previous post that i posted almost simultaneously to yours so you probably didn't see it, sometimes it will cause issues if you move them out of the community folder when that one is located in the %appdata% folder ('copying and then deleting' instead of moving should not cause issue i was told). This does not affect everyone and i think 90% of users didn't have that problem, it's still a bit of a mystery (i have steam version and i think it applies only to MSStore version so i could not expericence those problem myself).

it's a bit technical and it should be easier than that, but it's just about dealing with 'embedded windows security', not much i can do in the tool to bypass that. But at the end, it should work for everybody (just don't feel courageous enough to say to someone redonwload your 50gb if moving them didn't work hehe 😋)

I moved all my freeware mods + all payware except for FSDT and so far the utility is working great.

This utility not only tells me when I have a duplicated mod, but it makes it easier to find a mod that causes the sim to load slower than normal. Easy to choose nothing or only the mods that you want for a particular flight.

Thanks for clarifying!

This is how it is done.  Nicely organized.  Easy to manage.  Open the hidden spoiler window below to see two images.  I put the images in the spoiler window so the topic does not get too tall...

The add on linker is a game-changer for those with a Microsoft Store installation where the pathname/filename character length creates problems.  Problem gone!

This file structure on my system:

Becomes this in the linker.  All you have to do is check or uncheck the boxes. Then close the linker and fly.  Easy and effective.
