December 7, 20205 yr Hi there, I have been having a terrible time trying to add addons to the community folder. I have been using the tool called "linker", but i don't know how it works i keep getting error messages. I usually see like simobjects but i'm not sure whether to over write it or not.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. That is way too little information. The linker is very easy to understand and manage. What error messages are you getting. Be more specific and detailed. Help is on the way.... December 7, 20205 yr Author I will be right back I'm going to test it again to see what errors i get.
December 7, 20205 yr I do not have the mod myself but if I understand correctly the program goes into the community folder and creates a symbolic link ( a sort of fancy enhanced "shortcut" that lets you pretend entire folders are somewhere they are not) pointing to the real mod folders so they appear like they are really in the community folder when they are not. Presumably there is some sort of issue with those symbolic links but other than that I have no idea.
December 7, 20205 yr If you download the addons you want, unzip them, and place the folders inside into your personal addons folder.... then you can use the Linker to place links in the Community folder. If you dragged items into and out of the community folder, they may no longer work and you get error messages, like the one you posted. Always start with a freshly downloaded copy, and your error messages will disappear. Edited December 7, 20205 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
December 7, 20205 yr I have a system that works for me. No need for binkers, linkers, or klinkers. I created an extra folder called "MSFS 2020 Mods" outside the flightsim folder. Within this folder I have subfolders, for example, "TBM 930", "CJ4", or "DA62". When I plan my flights, I only move the needed mods into the community folder. When I'm done, the mods go back into my Mods folder. No problems so far.

Just a few seconds extra and quite immersive in its own right. It appeals to the OCD in me! Edited December 7, 20205 yr by Fizzelle

Then I'd say you are the perfect "customer" for Addons Linker, lol. It would save you a lot of time and work. Try it, you won't regret it. December 7, 20205 yr @ptr1959w and @dobee51 feel free to message me if you have problems with the tool, usually those problems are just due to insufficiant rights to your user account (admin rights missing when running the program, those are needed by Windows to create links). Unfortunately, like @Bert Pieke said, with the MSStore version, sometimes there are problems when moving addons that were first installed in the community folder (some sort of encryption that is kept and so the files won't work because they are not readable when they are moved into another folder). To make sure you are not suffering from that problem, you should try with a freshly new downloaded addon that you put in your addons folder (not in community) and try with only that one. Sometimes it's an easy fix (run as admin), sometimes it's a bit more problematic because if Windows decides that some files are not readable after moving them outside of community folder, it's tough to make him change opinon if you are not a computer specialist (and not much the tool can do) ... anyway, if you need help, just message me and we'll try some debug steps. Thank you
