December 24, 20205 yr Planes in VR can be quite different to flatscreen. Some cockpits work, some are not so good. A plane that performs fine in pancake mode suddenly stutters in VR. Personally, I'm greatly enjoying flying the various cubs in VR, and these are planes I wouldn't normally gravitate towards. So I'm going to vote for the Zlin Savage Cub today. Why: great frame rates, good visibility from the cockpit, it can land pretty much anywhere, it's made for low and slow which is where VR shines the most, taildragger so much better in VR (eg you can see when taxiing), in VR it gives a decent sense of RW stick and rudder flying. What is your favorite plane so far in VR, and why? It may inspire us to try something different for our next HMD flight! December 24, 20205 yr Try Cri Cri 🙂 of ATSim ! Nice and a lot of fun with this small plane (3 versions, even with jet engine). Very good FPS, good small ultralight for discovery any scenery in MSFS (very good visibility from the pilot view). The cabin is very small, but it really is (like in RL). December 24, 20205 yr Definitely the Cubs as of now. I feel I can go and land anywhere I wish. They're a hoot to fly! As noted, much better VR frame rates too, and I love buzzing low across the country side. The only thing missing are the Saguaro cactus's. The Arizona southern desert just doesn't seem the same without 'em. 🙂 I'm still working through some further tweaking with my 3090/G2. December 24, 20205 yr Loving the DV20, super simplistic and love the low and slow looking over the nose! The canopy also gives a good field of view! I flew it out of north Las Vegas late afternoon and just watching all the cars below as I made my way up to boulder passing the strip was just amazing! AME GE90, GP7200 CFM56
December 24, 20205 yr For me the TBM. Easy to control with a CV1 headset. And great for cloud sufing, which is amazing in VR (clouds on Ultra).
December 24, 20205 yr I don't care for any. Maybe the Icon A5 at the most Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10 MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled) 8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled) 32GB DDR4 3000 Ram 500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

I’ve never been up in one RW, but I’m told they’re a lot of fun. I like the idea of trying out some freeware like the Cri Cri mentioned above. I’m not sure if anyone has tried payware 3rd party aircraft in VR? Carenado planes are going cheap right now, not sure how they perform in VR, and whether there’s any real advantage over default? December 27, 20205 yr This ultralight is good if you have a low spec PC (like me) ..... https://secure.simmarket.com/nemeth-designs-aerolite-103-msfs.phtml The slow speed really helps with performance issues and, of course, slow is better for sightseeing and exploring - as well as the fact that you can look straight down to the ground. If I need to go a bit further or a little faster I use the Icon A5. It has excellent visibility from the cockpit and no front propellor. You can also land on water - which is fun. December 27, 20205 yr The old faithful analog 172. Always gets the job done. I have all the nado planes and they are ok in VR. No performance issues, outside of the 182 and the g1000 (personal taste). Obviously high rate glass panels can affect frames.
