First post - Hello from the PNW

Featured Replies

Hello Avsim,

Season's greetings from Seattle! This is my first post here despite being introduced to the community 15ish years ago. I had a handful of great simming years in the early 2000s before I had to put the hobby down and tend to life matters for a dozen years or so. Now that I'm back in a position to embrace the hobby, I've been slowly getting back to full speed. Given how much I've benefited from the wealth of resources shared on this site, I figured it was about time to check-in and chip in.

I currently use P3Dv4.5 HF3 as my sole sim. I haven't dabbled with X-Plane, nor with the new MSFS yet (in time perhaps). My thing is high fidelity tubeliners, AI, and scenery; so I don't see myself migrating to MSFS until the brilliant folks at AIG have worked their magic on the new platform. I've recently been on a conquest to get some older FSX sceneries working in P3Dv4 and plan to share some results soon (LVFR MDSD Santo Domingo, for example); once it's presentable and coherent (and I've double-checked I'm not violating any terms!).

Before I get ahead of myself, thought I'd use this opportunity to say hello and invite any insights you have about the cultural / perhaps-unwritten rules of posting here. I've read the terms of use / rules & policies / signature requirements; I've got my name in my signature (that's a policy here right? I could have sworn it was but couldn't find any specific text in the terms) along with my rig, so whatever posting tips I should be aware of, I'm all ears (eyes?).

Hope everyone has a safe and healthy New Year's!

David

Welcome to AVSIM, David. Enjoy your stay.

I'm sure the name in the sig thing was if you wished to take part in the PMDG forum, but no harm done!

No doubt by now you'll have noticed that there is a P3D forum, and one for discussing hardware for specific enquiries in those areas.🍻
