Great, so what about not using it full screen then?

Press ALT+ENTER, then go to the add-ons menus to open the Panel Assistant, confirm it is working, once done with the assistant, press ALT+ENTER again to restore full screen mode.

Sorry for the late response. Yes I was indeed using fsxse on full screen mode. I ALT+ENTER and managed to get to the setup aircraft tab. There is then a setup wizard pop-up which i chose the option of " Replace Gauges With Reality XP GNS (auto-detected). On the following page I had to select the auto-detected gauges: I chose GNS 530 2 (assuming i'm supposed to input the one that i bought). However it was a blank screen even when i get it to pop-up gauge which showed RealityXP on the top right of the popup. But it wasnt working. What shall I do next?

Please note Carenado/Alabeo aircraft are usually offering a pre-configured RXP option. You'd use the Carenado/Alabeo config tool to set this up.

More often than not though, these predate our GNS V2 and are therefore configuring the panel with our GNS legacy product. It is not a problem though, but you have 2 choices:

1) You can make a local copy of the rxpGNS2.dll gauge file in the gauges folder, and name it rxpGNS.dll (or .gau) and any panel looking for the legacy one will use the GNS V2 instead. For this to work, I'd advise you also select the GNS V2 setting "Use Legacy L:vars" (see RXP GNS User's Manual p12)

2) You can use the RXP Panel Assistant GUI to replace the GNS legacy gauge entries in the panel with the new GNS V2 gauges instead. You'll still most likely will need the aforementioned setting because the aircraft might be expecting those simvars for proper operation.

I'd suggest you restore the panel first with the Carenado/Alabeo tool, and explore these options to get started with.

Sorry for jumping in, can you repeat which aircraft you are working with? Is it still the PA44 Seminole?

If so, do the things mentioned above:

1. Run the RXP530PA44.exe file in the PA44 aircraft folder

2. Copy the rxpGNS2.dll file in the gauges folder and call it rxpGNS.dll

After you copy/rename the dll in the gauges folder, and start up the airplane, I would expect the popup GNS window to say GSN530XP at the top right of the frame... is that what you see?

If so, and if you still have a blank screen on the GNS, please post the contents of your log files as suggested earlier (in your Documents folder.. they start with rxpGNS...)

How do I get the Alabeo config tool? I restored the Alabeo PA44 with the built in gauges and tried to carry out the steps above. Where can i find the rxpGNS2.dll file? I dont quite follow the first option. Sorry for the trouble.

Just to correct myself in my earlier post, I bought the GNS430V2. However I did the steps as mentioned and yes i do get the pop up GNS window in FSX to be GNS530XP at the top right. I still get a blank screen unless I restore the gauges using the add-on tool in flight. Only then it will be working but via the built in GNS for the aircraft (not RXP).

You bought the 430, and the 530 does not work..

That is the explanation.. you need to buy the 530.

So how do I get the 430 V2 to work? I intend to use the 430 which is why I bought the 430.

@december24th

If you're configuring the panel for the 530, it won't show the 430. Therefore you need to configure the panel with a 430 instead?

Either there is a pre-made panel mod, or the Alabeo tool is offering the option, or you'll have to change the 530 into a 430.

Please note though if you're just "swapping" gauges, the 430 dimensions are not the same (it is less tall).

You might want to explore this forum and inquire whether other customers of this aircraft are sharing a panel mod ready made:

Confirmation of what Bert advised earlier today can be confirmed by this topic in the Alabeo PA44 forum here on Avsim.  This from early 2017.

This link was posted here in the RXP support area from a year ago.  The Alabeo product listing only shows support for the 530.

So to sum it all up, I did a mistake by purchasing the GNS430 which unfortunately cannot be used to replace the GNS530 panel in the Alabeo PA44. Unless I manage to find a panel mod, there's no way else getting around this. Am I right?

If the vendor (Carenado/Alabeo) does not offer a GNS 430 option, you are out of luck with this airplane.  The GNS 530 is a different form factor as mentioned above..

The Carenado Baron / Bonanzas do take a GNS 430.. so it depends on the airplane.

So you made a human mistake.  We all do from time to time.  Human nature. What then do you want from others? What now could you do for yourself?
As an aside, I commiserate with you.  I was born on December 21st.  At least it's the date of the Winter Solstice!  LOL
(I learned about the Winter Solstice in USAF Meterologist School.  All I knew is that it blurred my birthday into Christmas)

Thanks for taking the time to offer a clueless lad some help. Greatly appreciated. Cheers!
