Unreal Weather and Live Weather

Featured Replies

SOP is as follows:

Check METARS for WX then load Unreal Wx and compare. If it is off Load LIVE Wx and compare.

Usually one of the above is semi-accurate or at least semi-interesting 🙂

I gave up on MSFS native live weather feature and now use my themes. I'm much happier now.

I also tried the unreal weather ap and it's very nice except for the erratic and sometimes sudden weather changes. I gave up on that ap too. The live weather feature in MSFS is a lost cause and I'm hoping that Hi-Fi can create an ap to finally give us the live weather we this sim deserves.

For those who think that weather depiction in a sim is easy to do, just ask REX Simulations.

I’ve been a very vocal critic of live weather but I have to give credit where it is due, things have much improved over time and I find myself using live weather for most of my flying and it’s normally reasonably accurate.  If I find it’s way off, I fire up REX as a back up.  I haven’t tried unreal weather as it sounds similar to what Rex does and I’ve already paid for that.

Still lots of room for improvement in terms of accuracy to real world conditions with live weather but it’s mostly useable now for me at least.  It would be nice if we had the level of reliable, accurate to real world conditions we all got used to with Active Sky...hopefully we’ll get there eventually.

It would also be nice if ATIS would report correct cloud conditions though.
