Still CTDs with the Mooney? :/

Featured Replies

Hey everyone...

Has someone figured out the CTDs with the Carenado Mooney? I'd really like to take her out for some round trips but those random CTDs are a gamestopper.

They seem to be completely random. Sometimes 10 minutes into the flight, sometimes 2 hours. Really annoying.

It's only the Mooney. The Seminole has no issues.

Any hints here?

Best regards,

Tom

Have you done the normal stuff like removing all mods including the cockpit ones except the Mooney itself to eliminate mod conflicts? Also try running it without FSUICP etc

Yes i have checked everything. I can fly 7 hours in the Longitude with all mods, hours in the TB21 or Seminole with the GNS530 mod etc. not having any issues. As soon as i hop into the Mooney its a matter of luck and time until the next CTD.

Edit: What do you mean with "Cockpit mods"? GPS or texture mods? Just to clarify...

Basically to test whether it is a conflict with a mod empty the community folder.

I'm not getting any CDT's with the Mooney. I was flying it yesterday for a few hours, and she was flying beautifully. Maybe it's a combination of the plane and settings maybe? Although I haven't noticed this plane to be any more demanding fps wise than any other.

TBH it has a huge hit to FPS when you switch to the cockpit view from external camera, more so than most other steam gauge aircraft, but yeah I have not had a CTD with it either.

Just noticed my sig is out of date, I've upgraded to a 1080ti, might make a difference if somebody's specs are a bit low maybe?

Edit: Now corrected.  Specs in sig.

My Specs are: i9-9900K @5.2Ghz, RTX3080, 32GB RAM etc...

So i guess its noch a System issue. I have now reinstalled the Mooney and removed the GNS530 Mod. Let's see if this changes anything.

I was having occasional crashes with my new system and install of MSFS 2020. After the recent update, I lowered some of my graphics settings one notch, because I noted that my Vram was starting at around 92% and going higher as I flew. Now the Vram starts around 80%, and flying the Mooney exclusively, I have not had one crash in over a dozen flights. It's very stable now.

No CTDs with the Mooney since it was updated. There are users having CTDs regardless of airplane, so it's something else.

Interesting because flying the Mooney is the one and only situation causing trouble. I have hundreds of hours in the Longitude, TBM and XCub and didn't have a single CTD.

Have you checked in Event Viewer under Applications following a crash to see what the error was?

Don't see anything related to a crash there. MSFS just closes itself without any further message.

There should be a red error under Applications if MSFS crashes to desktop. I’ve seen an entry for every crash which helped me resolve the issues.

To be honest i'm not sure where to look for this. I have "Critical", "Error","Warning", "Info"  available but can't see anything "Application" like.

Ok, got it. Says something like this:
