You Can't Go Back

Of course the postscript to this is that MSFS still brings you down to Earth with a clatter...

Flying the default 747, got in the STAR circuit for Murmansk airport, with flaps deployed it could not hold the VRef speed of 160ish knots and then started to alternately lose altitude then try and climb back to the approach height before wallowing down. Managed to coax it round on to final but could not stay on the localiser, way off the runway let alone the centre line. An attempt to correct and hand fly ended up in an (imaginary) fireball for my 300+ virtual passengers.

I suspect some of this is down to the known issue with flap values since the last update but the 747 continues to be a "wascally wabbit" and perpetuates the view that MSFS is an excellent scenery simulator, so long as you never actually intend to land the aircraft...

The 747. I can land the C172, C152 and some others pretty well. Didn't end up in an imaginary fireball so far, and I'm handflying them all the way.

Kind regards, Michael

I may try it again now the flaps hotfix is live.

I should admit I had the flaps community hotfix installed.

Kind regards, Michael

With the flaps fixed the approach was normal albeit struggled on the turn to final. However still get the floating along the runway after knocking out the AP and A/T (not entirely convinced the latter was actually off) and I put too much nose down to try and compensate resulting in another, ahem, 300 souls lost to one of my fireballs.

The sim could be what y'all call perfect, and I would still have this problem at times 🙂 Thank goodness it's as sim. You don't want me flying a real aircraft 🙂 Trust me. But dang I have a lot of fun.
