December 22, 200619 yr If spending all kinds of money for addons only to see them become obsolete, countless hours tweeking, and upgrading hardware regularly to get every fps you can muster. Visiting forums like this to argue the merits of FSX over FS9. Then you should really love it !I've been flightsimming since the commador64 days and FSX I think is a huge disappointment. I really liked flying the sim but the cost and hassles that this franchise has become has taken it's toll. There's just many more options out there nowdays. So I gave up on this hobby.Haven't visited these forums in a while and I see nothing has changed.I'm off to enjoy my new pastimes. RB6, GTR2, Nascar 2003, GOW etc..CheersHappy Holidays Everyone
December 22, 200619 yr >ultra realistic flight dynamics and looks just stunning and very,>very realistic.Hmm, every time there comes a new version of x-plane I download it and try it out for a while, and with an open mind. Believe me; I really WANT to like it. But not only do I think it looks very weak, I also think it feels "wrong", overresponsive, like flying a plastic brick in a computer game - sort of. And it's not like I don't have experience with controlling real-life aircrafts either... So I don't know, when I see someone praising X-plane for it's flight dynamics I get a bit confused, because when I spend time with MSFS, especially with some of the good 3rd party aircrafts, it feels "better" and more "realistic" than I ever felt anything in X-Plane did. Maybe it's just me... But it IS what I feel anyway. Just my 2 cents...

X-Plane lacks dampening, mass, interia, in the right places at the right time, along with a few other senses of feel. It's like an airplane tied directly to a puppeteers stick. L.Adamson

MSFS does a better job with regard to this.Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
December 22, 200619 yr >I feel you. I have worked in the computer field for 10 years>so there isn't much i don't know when it comes to tweaking>them. I admit that many others probably don't have the skills>or are too afraid to tweak their machines. Overclocked core2 machines are really the>only machines capable of running this sim at a good clip I'm>afraid.I agree with you apart from I cant really get high teens in the cities, well I can if I turn everything of but I dont want to do that - my choice.I plan on getting a core2 etc sometime this year but probably towards the end, or maybe after the next round of price cuts (if i can hold out that long). With regard to overclocking, I, again, agree with you, just not sure if I could bring myself to run a rig overclocked that much for 24 hours a day. I am on the look out for a new toy to play with mind.It must be great to run FSX that well.regards
December 22, 200619 yr It is hard to say from a computer simulation of what feels real, because you don't have the full spatial orientation and don't feel the forces on your body, on your yoke and pedals.I fly the C172 in real life and, yes, the default settings in XP are definitely way too responsive and jerky. On the other hand, I feel that flying a C172 in MSFS is too "easy". For example, I never saw the sensation of feeling jerked around in turbulence in MSFS. I have that sensation in XP, when the plane suddenly drops 100". In the real plane, you really have to hang on (almost for dear life), if there's just a slight turbulence and you get jerked around and really have to hold the yoke. You don't have that in MSFS.Pat

December 22, 200619 yr "Coming online and griping that a 4 year old p4 2.6 wont run a modern game will not get you taken seriously by anyone."I'll upgrade only once and that's when Vista/DX10 become available. I've always stated that. The problem I have is FSX doesn't run as efficient as it should on high end hardware to even bother at this time. I never stated I wanted FSX to run on my current machine. If you guys are fine tweaking instead of flying that's fine with me. FS9 runs great on my current system for now. By the time I upgrade I'll be ahead of all you guys anyway with far less tweaking to do and much better results. December 22, 200619 yr Dillon, Have you seen my post, and watched my video flying around Manhattan? On high end systems, you can get FSX to an acceptable performance level, it just takes a little adjustment, nothing really different, from any other version of this sim! Here's the link to the video again, in case you missed it! Incidentally I've been able to get an even greater increase, by not using ATI's CCC! The only problem there, is I lose the ability to use the Crossfire option (I have 2 X1950 XTX's.) I don't lose any performance by this since FSX doesn't take advantage of the second card, but I lose the higher AA settings I could have gotten with it set.www.tf51d.com/Manhattan.wmv Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
December 22, 200619 yr Welcome. Ignore all the hatred for FSX. Like many others I enjoy FSX as much, if not more so than any other previous installment of the series, and proudly so. If this angers you haters, tough cookies. It is a game, get over it and get some sun if FSX offends you.I am all about fed up with this forum, so I hope you find more use out of it Todd than I did. Enjoy your purchases and enjoy the blue skies of FSX. TTFN.-Cody
