TBH, I find the maps in MSFS very disappointing compared to FSX.  The solution for me ha been to run Little Navmap and alt+tab.  I have a spare monitor to put it on, but a very small desk with only room for one.

It would be nice to have it on the MSFS toolbar though.

This is an annoying problem since the release of msfs.
