How to save map settings?

Featured Replies

Good evening,

Got a quick question regarding the flight planning map in msfs. It keeps resetting my filters and settings everytime I start the Sim and I'd really like to save my settings.

Is there a way to do so?

Best regards

Tom

Not that I've found. Which I agree, is annoying.

Ah, too bad! Very user friendly xD

Tried this, too, but didn't find a way. I think that's a pretty nasty omission.

Kind regards, Michael

This should be an easy enough fix for the developers.  I agree that it's damned annoying, but I guess they have a few bigger fish to fly such as framerates dropping by 20 or 30 on occasions with no good reason and autopilot systems that don't work properly

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

Should be easy to implement, I think. It certainly is annoying.

Just another unfinished feature of MSFS.

I am among the growing number of people that now realize that while this sim is enjoyable when it works; I do wish that it was marketed as a 'pre-release'.

I challenge someone, anyone, to show me just one feature (except perhaps sounds and fauna), of this sim that can be considered finished and ready for the public.

Personally I would be quite accepting of the shortcomings, had I thought I was buying in as a pre release.

I have bought auto racing sims marketed as pre-release, and been comfortable while they gradually roll out  fixes and new features and tracks; MSFS was not marketed as such; I knew there might be fixes and updates, but did not expect a sim where everything is unfinished and nothing works as designed.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that MSFS is the future, and that it will undoubtedly be the dominant simulator down the road, Its just not ready and wasn't ready at the time of release.

I do enjoy the scenery, but that's about all I enjoy at the moment because for me personally, everything else is unfinished. For the past 3 days, live weather has been depicting Atlanta as having thunderstorms, all day every day. In reality it has been sunny with few clouds.

Thank goodness for the community 'modders' and folks like Just Flight that give us an idea of the true potential of this new platform.

Rant over...back to enjoying scenery....hopefully without a CTD.

I am defintely not among that growing number. The missing save settings feature is a bit annoying but all simulators I know have such annoyances. Some of them for many years already. And all of them (including MSFS) have more serious issues to deal with.

Kind regards, Michael

The save setting, is of no consequence in the grand scheme of things, I agree there are many more important things to be fixed.

I am not bashing MSFS, I do enjoy using it when it works. The many deficiencies, of which the saving issue is just one (a very minor one), is the reason that I feel the way that I do.

I have been simming since the 80s. ; I don't want to be unfair, but I just don't recall so many bugs and unfinished features of a newly released sim. I may be wrong, I just don't recall. (I have never tried XP, just MSFS and p3d).

In any event I am confident it will get better, just wish I didn't  feel I bought  pre release software; then I probably wouldn't feel like I bought the software to beta test it.

And I thought it was something I was doing wrong! I keep having to tell the map to show ""Navaids" and "Fix and RNAV Position Reports" each time I plan my first flight after start-up of the sim. Certainly a stupid omission.

The two UI issues which aggravate me more than the inability of saving the settings, are

- there is no weather briefing. To get Live Weather you have to enter the sim with Clear Skies then call LW afterwards and you don't know anything about the weather cooked (predicted) by MeteoBlue. For the departure airport, en route and the final destination.

 - the data sheet for the airfields on the right window should include the altitude and a crude map putting the airfield in its environment knowing that the blurry background satellite map is of no use.

As in many aspects, this sim has been designed by people who have never used a sim before. The UI wants to have s slick modern look but is less ergonomic  than the one in P3D which is no marvel.  MFS is a step backward in the UI .

Both valid points. I know some hardcore simmers will like to look at live weather reports and airfield charts but the majority of us (I assume) want the convenience of being able to get that information in-sim, and why not? It should be perfectly possible. The runway altitude is particularly important. It's all very well knowing my altitude is 3000ft ASL, but if I don't know the runway is at 850ft ASL, there's too much guesswork and approximation going on to make an informed landing.
