December 28, 200619 yr Is there anything ou there that can give me a moving map display equal to the one in FS Navigator.I MISS IT AND THE FLIGHT PLANNING.Thanks in advance for any help
December 28, 200619 yr Be Patient:FSNav is on the way for FSX, although it probably will take a few months. You might want to occasionally check their site. Look at the bottom of the home page. If you have any desired changes or suggestions in the new version, now is your chancehttp://www.fsnavigator.com/index.htmI agree, I miss it too. Probably my favorite addon.Happy Flying:RTH

December 28, 200619 yr i sure hope they make the new FSNAVIGATOR work over a network, i network radar contact and activesky and right now im testing FScommander and it is looking real good right now. If FSNAV does notadd networking i have a decision to make, because FSNAV is one of my most important add-ons, but since im waiting on it, i have been testing and using other software and FScommander has it all. the less stress on PC the better FSX will run.
December 28, 200619 yr >Is there anything ou there that can give me a moving map>display equal to the one in FS Navigator.I MISS IT AND THE>FLIGHT PLANNING.>>Thanks in advance for any helpI believe there was a moving map by Ranainside.
December 28, 200619 yr Author I usually fly VFR with real-life sectionals. Why don't you try that in the meantime? You can't beat that (few bucks per map) for flight planning. For the moving map, you still have the default GPS flavors, no? Just a thought...Good luck!
January 16, 200719 yr I have been on the lookout for a Moving Map style package for a while and had previously checked out FSNavigator, FS Commander etc. In the meantime, there is a program called FS Moving Map by Ranainside.com (not currently online it seems) but still available at the AVSIM file library. If you also obtain Sectional Maps (all are freely available for the USA for instance at AVSIM) then the the Map is really very good, particularly as this program sets up the Kneeboard to display the Sectional Maps. Once within range of an Airport the Map switches to a display of the runway, taxiways etc. The AVSIM File library also has a neat freeware utility called 'Yet Another Google Earth Tool for FS9/FSX' which links FS9 or FSX with Google Earth to display fantastic satellite images with your Aircraft's position moving as it flys the course. I always liked the map on FS Navigator but not the interface so it will be interesting to see how FS Commander is now. Their Website indicates that a 'Registered' version of FSUIPC.DLL is required for FS Commander which would make the all up cost prohibitive. I must have a look.Paul
January 17, 200719 yr FS Moving Map WAS a neat little app. Unfortunately one day it stopped working, saying the BETA period was over, or something like that. The Ranainside.com website appears to have disappeared, and there is no newer version, so unless you are prepared to run your system clock in the past, this seems to no longer be available.* Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
January 17, 200719 yr Orest,The FS Moving Map is actually still a good utility as it is not dependent on the System Clock for functioning which FS Manager, also from Ranainside.com, is. FS Manager, however, will require you to set the clock back if you wish to use it now, but 'FS Moving Map' still works perfectly well, today. FS Moving Map is available directly from the AVSIM website, just search for 'FSMMoving' and FSMMoving Map V 1.1.0 will be found.Paul
January 17, 200719 yr Moderator How about a better moving map than FSNav? I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the one that comes with FS FlightKeeper which will show Ai aircraft - something that the current FSNav can't.Unfortunately v3 for FSX isn't available yet and although v2.x doesn't include a flight planner that could change with v3.Keep an eye on the FSFK website and have a look at the screenshots here www.molitor-home.de/fs/FLKeeper/Screenshots.htmlCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). January 17, 200719 yr Thanks Paul, I will double check that!* Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
January 17, 200719 yr I suspect that the folks at fswidgets.com will soon have an FSX version of their excellent FS9 moving map system available. If you haven't visited their web site you might be very interested in all their products and I must add that the support is first class. Gary
January 18, 200719 yr If you're in a multiplayer session, another option is to run FSNavigator from within FS2004 (or FS2002, even) on another machine, and connect FSNav to the same session. You should then be able to see a map of the area and all the other multiplayer aircraft, even if you wouldn't be able to use it to control your FSX plane, or to see its current status.Russell Gilberthttp://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost
January 18, 200719 yr Go for FS Commander - it's available now for full compatibility with FSX - I run it on a separate monitor with WideFS from Peter Dowson - this is better in my humble opinion than any other moving map on the market.
