The organizers should have required signed consent and hold harmless agreements before allowing contestants to participate.  Did the son win his lawsuit?

Many people swallow food down the wind pipe at restaurants.  I've seen it twice.   Once the waiter performed a Heimlich maneuver and the other time the guy was able to cough it up.  It happened to my Dad once and they took him to a hospital where he remained overnight.

The world is a dangerous place.  There are things that happen that aren't anyone's fault.  Restaurants don't have signs posted warning you of all the dangers that could befall you while dining there.  At some point you have to take charge and be responsible for yourself.

I certainly hope the plaintiff lost the case.  Nobody else is responsible for you being dumb or doing something stupid or even swallowing wrong.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I can see it now!  Restaurants have to put a sign...."Warning!  Eating can cause death!"  🤪

Twice in my life a small bit of food wound up stuck in my trachea instead of my esophagus. It took a lot of coughing before being dislodged.

Fr. Bill, was it at a restaurant and if it was did you sue?

Yes it was and no I did not. On both occasions it was completely my own fault.

I also learned the hard way when I was still a kid not to try eating my Corn Flakes before I'd let the milk soften them up first. I had one flake wedge sideways in my esophagus. It took a lot of water slowly drunk to soften that flake enough that I could swallow it!

Once you put a mouthful of food into your mouth the responsibility for what happens is all yours.

I don't eat that kind of cereal anymore.  Every morning I have a bowl of Quaker's instant oatmeal.  I garnish it with a half handful of almond slivers.

This is definitely my kind of restaurant. I'd be there a couple times a month if there was one here! I haven't been in a decent, reasonably priced steak house for years! Long Horn, Outback, Lone Star, Texas Road House just don't cut it anymore. The meat just isn't that good.

I didn't know there were so many Bruce.  And get a load of that salad bar.  None of the pictures show the two choices of soup at the end of the bar.  Sometimes my wife just gets the salad bar and soup.

Instead of desert I go the salad bar after dinner and get the sliced honey dew or cantaloupe, strawberries, and pineapple.
