April 11, 20215 yr Is there any app (free or payware) that I can use to search and lookup the live weather stations within the sim? I know there are apps that inject their own live weather and allow you to search and even filter for certain weather conditions, BUT, I'm interested in being able to do this for the default live weather. April 11, 20215 yr The weather comes from meteoblue predictions + local METAR data around airports. I've found meteoblue and windy.com both to be somewhat accurate. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

Please when commenting on Asobo/Metroblue live weather state where in this earth you reside and where you are flying. My sense of this since release is that there is a significant disparity from one region to another. So whether reporting positive results, or whether reporting negative results, disclose where it is where you are experiencing your reported results. I'd like an addon that can simply read the live weather from within the sim itself while it is running. I have seen no addons that read the weather from within msfs...all of the weather readers (such as the one in little navmap for example) are reading weather from some other source like NOAA and Vatsim. I'm not looking for an external weather report as you have suggested. Is there something that can read the current weather from within the sim? Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
April 11, 20215 yr It's never exactly right, and I'm not "reporting" anything, those are the best resources I've been able to find. I'm on the US West server and I've been flying around the world following the route of the 1924 Seattle World Cruisers, so all over the world. Since MSFS gets its data from Meteoblue, that's the closest you can get to seeing what is in the sim. Quote I'm not looking for an external weather report as you have suggested. Is there something that can read the current weather from within the sim? Nope. Doesn't exist. There is nothing in the SDK to allow remote queries of the weather data. The closest you can get is to look at a Metoblue forecast with the NEMS30 global weather model. The "weather radar" that the stock Garmins display is a bitmap image of clouds generated by the sim engine itself, that's all we get right now. That's why the CRJ doesn't even have a weather radar, there is no way to query what is going on. April 11, 20215 yr Author So...are you saying that you don't know of an app which does this, or are you saying that it's not possible for an app to read and report the current live weather as it is within the sim? Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

April 11, 20215 yr Author oh brother...they wont even give us live weather access for simply a reporting app? Thats absurd. So lets get this straight MS...we have to turn to and rely upon outside developers for proper aircraft behavior, proper flight planning, missing instrument approach procedures, a replay feature which was apparently removed since FSX, accurate live weather via metar, and now you don't even give us the ability to at least read & report on the flipping live weather within the sim? If you take all that into consideration, what exactly is left, beyond a ground scenery simulator? It certainly hasn't been a very fruitful 9 months since release. Just, wow. April 11, 20215 yr Even in in-sim ATIS is wrong, so it's worse then that. The sim itself doesn't report on the weather consistently itself inside the sim using the features we have. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

April 11, 20215 yr Author Truthfully, the best thing to get them into gear is for everyone to stop playing the game and stop developing for it until they do the right thing and truly fix it, once and for all. That would get their attention without giving them more publicity. Edited April 11, 20215 yr by hangar Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

I dare anyone to name just 1 feature of this sim that works as it should. (Forget the eye candy; though even that is questionable because some of us still get frame drops or unusable vr in some areas.) Fact is however, it is the future. Imagine MSFS with all the bugs worked out and features like seasons working properly. Just wish they had promoted it as early access. That way I wouldn't feel disappointed or frustrated like I do now. Robin
April 11, 20215 yr The weather is better represented in MFS than in the competition (my opinion, YMMV) but, and this is for me the most glaring deficiency, the simmer cannot get a decent weather briefing at departure and arrival when LW cannot be called in the world map which is quite often. When calling it in-game, the LW table is greyed out and empty. And in any case there is nothing for the en-route weather. And in a way, it negates all the BS about MFS being for serious VFR simmers. They did their best to get a visual representation without considering that VFR flying is all about knowing the weather. Here, there and in-between.
