Goflight -- Solutions for P3d (v5,1) and MSFS?

Featured Replies

Has anyone found a solution to allow Goflight modules to properly work with P3d (v5,1) and/or MSFS 2020?  One that does not require a lot of programming?

This is for use with included aircraft only (i.e., no add-on aircraft)

Thanks,

Brian

Spad.next supports some of the Go Flight stuff ... But you will still have to "assign" the events... Don't want to call it programming since you pick and assign them...  But there is a mild amount of effort you need to put in...

Thanks Les,

I'm not at all familiar with Spad.next.  Do you know of a list of Goflight modules its accommodates -- in P3d (v5,1) and/or MSFS 2020?  I'm also curious of your opinion on whether it is any easier to setup than Pollypot?

Again, thanks,

Brian

Go Flight Interface Tool works well with MSFS and P3Dv5 and allows you to use most autopilot functions on the default planes.  I couldn’t do without it. It’s author provides great support too.

Thanks Regis,

I did purchase and install a copy of the GIT but, quite honestly can't figure out how to set it up.  I can't even get it to update even though every time I try to run it, a pop-up comes up saying a newer version is available,

This is the current list of supported devices for Go flight ...  If there are others not in the list you have I would ask the Dev to put it on the requested list.

They have Forums but also a discord that is very very active..

For v5.1 you simply copy the relevant exe.xml and dll.xml from the v4 folder to the v5 equivalent. That will cause the drivers to be run and you have functional GoFlight units.

I don’t have MSFS so can’t advise.

Thanks to you both.

I will give the file copy a try.  And I'll see if I can learn more about Spad.next,

all my goflight panels (except efis) work in fs2020.

you need to fool goflight into thinking its fsx. do the following.  have a copy of fsx. exe or an installation of fsx on your pc.   Next, find goflight folder, usually in c:/programfilesx86. copy or create shortcut to the GFdevFSX. exe file to your desktop. click the file. nothing appears to happen but that's correct.

now start goflight config.  click file and select fsx as simulator. (if it asks for fsx folder point it to your fsx. exe file) now in right hand window click the fsx tab at the top (not the p3d one). program modules as normal and save config.  start fs2020 and modules should work. I have mcppro rp48 4xgf166 2xgf45 2xt8 p8 tq6 mesm wp6 and all work fine without fsuipc or pollypot.

If panels work, but no leds then search youtube for blank saitek display. follow the instructions cos it works for goflight too.  only panel I haven't got working is the efis panel.  but rp48 can do some efis functions.  hope this works for other goflight owners.

it might work for p3d if you select the correct GFDevp3d. exe and in goflight confg right hand window select p3d tab instead of fsx, but I don't have p3d so can't test it. maybe a p3d owner can try and let us know

Thank you, gbobb!

I followed your advice, and so far my GoFlight modules are working in MSFS 2020. For me, this is a huge step forward.

With P3D 5.1 and 5.2, I never had any problem.

I tried this with MSFS and P3DV3 and it worked for one session.

Only had Gf-LgtII. Trims, flaps and gear worked but two way switch did not.

Next session, and ever since, it does not work at all with the goflight software. 😞

Firstly, open GFConfig and select File - Simulator Info.

Select Lockheed Martin Prepar3D. In the path below does it point to your P3Dv3 location? If not click Change and point it to the root folder.

Click OK and then exit GFConfig.

Next, look at exe.xml in this folder...

AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

Do you have an entry for:-

<Launch.Addon>
    <Name>GoFlight Hardware Interface</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>C:\GoFlight\GFDevP3D.exe</Path>
    <CommandLine>
    </CommandLine>
  </Launch.Addon>

You should have which will make the relevant exe run when P3Dv3 starts. NOTE: That’s my path. Yours may differ.

I have v3, v4 and v5 all installed and GoFlight software works with all three versions.

Thanks Ray but this is about getting goflight to work with MSFS 2020 via a non-running install of P3D. I was replying to gbob so you may have missed the context there.

I have found a $10 FSX DVD on ebay so will give that a try when it arrives.

It’s because you mentioned it only ran once I posted a solution.

GoFlight have released no drivers for MSFS so GIT is the only way of the modules working. Once you have FSX installed that should help. Good luck.

ref my prev posts.

goflight panels work in fs2020 and p3d ver3. you must click the correct Gfdev file before opening gf config software.  its GFDEVFSX  for fs2020. and GFDevp3d for p3d ver3.

then in gfconfig click file and select simulator info. click the sim your using. then in right hand window click the tab at the top for the sim your using.

my panels work fine in fs2020 p3d ver3. and xplane 11

I don't have p3d ver4 or 5, but please note that gf config probally won't work with v4 or 5 because  p3d ver 4/5 are 64bit programs and gf config is 32bit.  you will need to find a 64 bit Gfdev file.   fsuipc have one but i think you have to buy it.
